I've started on making some more changes from the last time I posted some news here. This news post wont be as lengthy but Ive got a few things to discuss.

I've added a nice gravity gun feature to the Soulcube that requires the weapon to be fully charged but does not use ammo. Just zoom in, press and hold Primary fire to grab objects and then press Secondary fire to launch them. I'm looking into also enabling the gravity feature to catch projectiles thrown at you like the grabber does in ROE. Wish me luck,

The Adrenaline Powerup has now been added back into the game. Now instead of giving you infinite stamina which u already have it will slow down time like the Helltime does in ROE, with the slowed down sound effects and all. I'm removing the half damage feature that sikkmod has added to it because with time slowed down and you moving at normal speed I don't think you taking half damage while using adrenaline would be very fair. It's almost completely implemented. There are a few bugs having to do with some particle effects and a few sound effects. But for the most part its all there and very cool.

I am also removing the flashlight from your inventory. It will no longer be accessible by any means including cheats. I don't see the purpose of having a flashlight when there is a headlamp and nightvision to choose from.

I'm also gonna try to add a helmet to the player model permanently. This will better explain the headlamp and nightvision aswell as other features like frost building up on the screen when outside. I never really liked the main characters face or unarmored head so if it works out expect him to get off that dropship at the beginning of the game fully dressed in armor as if he's some kind of elite soldier called to Mars. I'm also gonna cover his arms and hands with armor too. I want him to look really awesome. He already has different armor then all the other marines so I got to thinking why not cover his arms and hands. This will also be seen on his hands that hold the weapon view models too.

I'm gonna make new hell skin variants for all monsters that are in all the Hell maps. I want all of them to look the part and not just the Hellknights and Imps. Would be fresh to see the monsters looking different when in Hell.

please make the Headlamp brighter if you're going to remove the flashlight

It already is wider if that's what u mean. I never use the flashlight because of the increased circumference. It's all good.

If possible, please add cosmetic stuff optional via config, or better button config. For example, I really dislike the armour on doom marine hands, like Doom 4. Or better, adding brown gloves like original DooM had :)

Sorry man I don't intend on making things optional. I want this game the way I want it. That's why I'm not including the game and misc sections of the sikkmod options menu. What's wrong with the armored arms and hands? They're on Mars. They'd have to be fully clothed to withstand the extreme cold. It makes more sense this way.

I understand its your mod, and all of that. But why not adding optional way to tweack some stuff from skikkmod? That's one of the great adtition of that mod. A true example, I do not like have reload weapons. Also, I also dont like to need to shoot 3 shotguns on an IMP, or the horrendous wide effect shotgun on stock DooM 3, so I do prefer much more enemies, but with lesser life (really DooM 1/2 was really good balanced with that). But maybe someone wants monsters with much health, its just a % using sikkmod config. Really, its a win-win situation. You could make a Vgames-Recommended-Settings. Also its more easy to you to try some configuration ingame using the config tool.

About things to make sense... its a game! Nothing makes sense! But about your specific question, well, I dont find attached to a character that uses armor, but seeing those hands makes my imagination and more connected as were my hands. Should not be very hard to make optional, right?

Anyway do what pleased to you much of course. Just... want to be able to get the most joyful from your mod. :)

This isn't Sikkmod. This is PD3. And making things more open to everybody's optional way of playing the game means I'll have to spend more time making sure all of those optional features from Sikkmod work. I want this mod to be tough. If I gave you the option to make it what you want then I'll be wasting my time trying to fine tune this thing to act like a difficult survival horror. Sorry, but this is how it will be.

A pity. Well, hope enemies didnt take too mamy shots to die. Hope one well placed shotgun able to kill an imp for example, and from nice distance (Default doom3 weapons are very weak :( )

Have u even played the mod? The weapons on your side are much better then vanilla D3 and very deadly already. Version 7 will be rebalancing the demons attack damage rates but your weapons are still as deadly as before. U should really play PD3 to get a taste of what it offers before version 7 comes out.

Yeah, the basic weapons are indeed powerful, and a little bit too much, I think (see my post below). One shotgun blast may have been suitable for doom 1 & 2, but doom 3 has you fighting way fewer monsters at a time, so I think 2 shots feels right for taking down an imp at medium range.

-I always found the headlamp to be extremely lacking in both brightness and diameter. I hope you'll make it at least compare well to the flashlight.

Thanks man. Glad u agree. The headlamp is already as good as the flashlight. A little bit smaller but much bigger and brighter then in version 6.2.3. Like I've said before I never use the flashlight anymore. I always use the night vision or the headlamp because of how much tougher PD3 makes the game. No time to switch weapons to see in the dark.

I actually quite like the flashlight/headlamp mechanic. Gives more incentive for the player to be in the dark. Part of the atmosphere.

With the extra difficulty the flashlight makes things way to tough. A headlamp is more suitable for the change of difficulty to the gameplay.

Hey, I have a question. Are you planning on re-balancing the player's weapons? For example, I love that you've made the shotgun not-completely-useless by decreasing its spread, but frankly, it feels overpowered now. I can consistently one-shot imps at short-medium range, which makes the early game really easy. I realize that your weapons are supposed to be better, but the shotgun is OP even compared to say, the machinegun, which takes much more time to take down the same enemy at the same range.
I also think there's a problem with some of the secondary fire modes being a little too good as well. Why would you ever use the machinegun primary fire if the secondary fire has a much higher burst damage (maybe it's a bug, but the secondary has less spread than the primary) AND better damage-per-second? Pistol secondary's kinda OP, as well, I think. I like that you're making every weapon useful; I just feel like these imbalances kind of make the later weapons less important, because you can handle most enemies with the pistol or machinegun secondary shots, and the shotgun can tackle even strong enemies from a safe distance.

Anyway, I'm glad you're listening to feedback and v7 looks very promising. Cheers.

No I like how the weapons are. They're the only reason the game isn't completely unbalanced. They give u the edge to survive. Thanks for the input though.

Vgames, why don't you use dentons mod as a base, since it supports tracer effects and realistic particles, for example, you shoot at a rock and rocks spurt out, they even have their own sound for each particle, also it supports 31 weapon weapons and secondary fire modes, I have made almost a 1gb mod that uses features of your mod and sikkmod, it has a 31 weapons and some with secondary fire modes, however I cannot seem to get iron sight and sprint without using a weapon, I don't know how to do it, so you should merge your mod with dentons, plz check out my mod, it's new

I don't need that many weapons and Doom 3 already supports tracers. As for the material specific particle and sound effects I've been thinking of incorporating that myself for a while. I just haven't gotten around to it and really it's not needed. It's just a nice addition but since there aren't that many different material types to begin with it's kind of a feature that I can do without. Not sure I understand your problem with the iron sights or sprint. Can u explain that a little more?

If you have tried my new mod it uses dentons mod as a base, so it has all its features, it contains 31 weapons with secondary fire modes, some I used from yours, however I cannot seem to get the iron sight feature from your mod and put it in my own, if you could download my mod and be able to extract the files needed for iron sights and merge it into my mod then I'd be grateful, because I don't know what files you used to get the iron sights.

Also when is your mod coming out? This looks very exiting, I tried to merge my mod with yours... Not trying to steal your work, but because your mod has awesome features like iron sights and new levels, I cannot seem to merge your mod with mine, I want to merge your mod with mine so your mod has better features like those special material files and 31 weapon slots support. Although you can claim it as your work, I'm just editing my mod based on dentons since he created the mod for more customisable features for doom modders

I've added quite a bit to the source with help from my partner so you can't just put my mod with yours and expect it to work. You have a lot of work on your hands. I do not have time to work on your project and mine. I barely have time for PD3. U need to look in the scripts and def files for the iron sights code. And you'll need animations too. Good luck.

Can you extract the files needed for iron sight for me and send it to me, Coz I have no idea how to get it, I've tried looking into the scripts, defs and MD5. Also I'm looking forward to your mod. if you need help with your mod I'm glad to be of assistance, however you should at least add 3 new weapons coz u have remaining slots, doom fans have been wanting new weapons since the "upgraded weapons" are quite old. U can use the weapons from my mod. it's called Insidious Doom 3. It basically has all the features of yours but a lot more work since the mod is almost 1gb, the only thing it doesn't contain is the iron sight. It even has special player abilities.

U need to use my def and script files for all of the weapons. If u have def and script files for your weapons then you'll need to use the code for iron sights from my files. It's not a simple extraction. You'll need to use just the code. I really don't want anymore weapons. PD3 is very balanced now and more weapons would require more balancing. What I have is what I need. Anything else would be unnecessary.

What all can u do? I would love any help I can get.

I have only ever really made one mod, I used dentons mod, but I've. Even working on my project a long time, that my mod has so many features that it's 1gb, I'm not good at scripting or mapping, or designing stuff, however I'm skilled at editing der files and adding abilities into the game, rhey are basic, but I can however add a jetpack to your mod, but it's very simple, ALSO! The pda in my mod has a secondary firemode, your welcome to use its coding, it can open ANY door, just for noobs who need help, and it doesn't go fullscreen automatically, so you can walk around with ur pda out. One other thing to note is in every level u play in my mod, it has its own theme music, I think u should add that to your mod, it will make things a lot more fun. Your mod is very unique, I can mod in these special features into your mod if you want to send me a test play of your PD3V7 my email is Homicidephilia@hotmail.com

I am in college and searching for job so I have a lot of free time on my hands. I can add exclusive features to your mod like a jetpack, slow motion. Invisibility, armour regeneration and more, all of witch will be ballanced for example, the invisibly will only last 10 seconds and the jetpack will not move too fast, just send me a zipped file of your work, I'll just add whatever you want I won't change any of the files, then I'll send it back to you and you can tell me what you don't want and I'll take it out. Easy as man.

I'm sorry but I'm just not interested in those features. I have a specific way I want people to play PD3 and it doesn't include any of those types of gameplay features. But if you are interested in beta testing send me a PM. Thanks for the offer. But I really need much more advanced help.

It's part of the source code. this is why I don't use Denton source. It has very few features. Try using this mods gamex86.dll file. It had Denton + some sikkmod features included.

I have a question, what dll does perfected doom do, dentons dll contains all the features yours does, and you could easy add the source coding of your features into dentons mod, it would make the ultimate mod!

My mod uses sikkmod as a base and no Dentons source does not have all the features that sikkmod does. Sikkmod is far superior in every way. That's why I didn't use Dentons mod. I could care less about flashlights on weapons or being able to carry 100 weapons. Most of the features in Dentons source just didn't fit with my overall goals. That's why I didn't use it. And the beta isn't ready. I'll let u know when it's done.

Also, you should use Overthinked mod as a base since it uses BOTH features from the source code of dentons mod and sikkmod, Did u ever consider it? You're a great moderator with a lot of potential

I don't need anything from overthinked. I feel PD3 is exactly what it needs to be and I think it is highly successful in its own right. It's been ranked as high as 13 here at ModDB, it has over 500 watchers, it's usually always in the top 3 most popular mods for Doom3, and every version of it has been downloaded over 10000 times each since it was released way back in 2004 and they have been uploaded to many others sites by users which I had no clue about. ive been modding for a long time and not just on Doom 3 and I know for a fact that u only need what you need to get your plan across. PD3 is supposed to ramp up the difficulty, add tons of new features, and make Doom 3 perfect in my eyes. And that's what it does to the T.

Modifying the SDK I believe is far beyond your skills. The source I pointed u at should have all u need. There is also a tutorial to help u set up the SDK for editing on the overthinked page. Check it out and get started. You're gonna need a lot of practice to figure it all out. And u need to read lots of books on programming. Heck I'm still learning stuff all the time. Good luck.

Yea the dll wasn't compatible with. My mod, I have to merge every file carefully and edit stuff within Overthinked,but it comes with iron sight and laser features so it's good, how old are u and u busy with work? Married?? Kids? Lol

what is the best mod for graphics and textures, sikkmod, wulfen or monoxead?? Or a combo or all 3? and what files are responsible?

PD3 uses all 3. Everything in sikkmod is needed for sikkmod to work. The models, textures, shaders, source, pretty much everything. And of course u need all the stuff that comes with the wulfen and monoxead texture packs. If u have more questions not pertaining to this news post please ask in PMs or elsewhere.
