Good day everyone, welcome to the July Newscast. Since the blast of activity in late March, we've been rather quiet in the radar. As unfortunate as it may be, real life must sometimes take precedence over sweet hobbies. Things have not quite yet returned to their former status, but worry not! We're slowly – but steadily – rolling towards the next public release of Twisted Insurrection.
This brings me to our first announcement. To avoid confusion with the old Public Beta 5, we're renaming the next public release from Version 0.5 into Version 0.6. This is only a nominal change – we won't actually skip a release. The new title also fits nicely with the next OST release, Volume 6.
Now, for the actual game content. Version 0.6 will feature an all-new client software, re-written by Rampastring. Here's a preview of the (still WIP) client:
In addition to client-related changes, we've also added a ton of various new terrain objects to make our maps ever more diverse. Many of them are not just for eye-candy, but serve actual functions like blocking tanks.
All 179 objects were created by our SHP and Terrain artist MigEater (some slightly modified by Crimsonum). If you're not yet familiar with his mod D-Day, a World War II (and beyond) total conversion for RA2:Yuri's Revenge, be sure to check out the project's site here.
Next up is music. Last week we gave you a taste of our expanded soundtrack. We also promised to reveal two new tracks, so here they are! Tracks #42 and #43, respectively titled "Black Hand" and "Still Alone", are both made by Bobek (Bobisfaction) and Swirekster for Twisted Insurrection. Check them out below:
And for those who missed the previous round, here's track #41: "Just War" (also by Bobek and Swirekster):
Last but certainly not least, our ever-inspiring artists Swirekster and Bobek, with the help of Slawomir Polok and Bartosz Nawrat, have done some impressive TI-cosplay in addition to Swi working on a TI-related sculpture. Can you guess who it portrays? ;)
That's all for now folks, hope you enjoyed! Take care and have fun!
Great News! XD
Fantastic!
...and oh my god, are those slab-like terrain objects old concrete walls from TD?
They look more like road blocks, but there's no reason they couldn't be used as walls. Except they won't stop incomimg projectiles.
Add more real village structures to be fun.
peace through updates! >:O
btw, may i ask in what state campaign plot is? is it being worked on, is it finalized, is it on a low priority?
Those live-action videos have a very similar vibe to -HOOH-, which is totally awesome. It's a really cool ARG.
Wow... I think Swirekster and Bobek outdid themselves with the Lone Trooper remake. Also, I've noticed that the new soundtrack additions have a very Firestorm feeling to them. Still dark, but less than the older tracks. I love 'em. :D
We are trying some new things here and there :)
Well those things are really nice.
Dem Czech hedgehogs...in two flavours!
Any chance we could get to build them? Though, I'm not sure if the engine supports any efficient ways of plopping those things down.
Many of these objects are currently implemented in a way that makes them unbuildable, though we could probably create clones that are buildable (and only in the Buildable Props mode). Unfortunatelly, the clones would have some drawbacks, e.g. infantry being unable to walk between the hedgehogs.
Shame. Completely forgot how the engine handles various units.
Here is a cyborg statue itself, made of steel :)

Wow I really like the videos - they create some really tense moments, nice!
Designing the Future has probably been my most favorite TI song for a long time. Now it's tied with Still Alone. I miss not being conflicted. :P
Thanks to the composers for all the great songs in the growing TI soundtrack! I've been loving every song to bits since the beginning! <3
