Ground Zero is a post-apocalyptic role playing game being developed as a modification for Doom 3. We have released a very early prototype to demonstrate the form of turn-based combat under development, the general method of environment construction, and a few other basic features. This is a VERY early build, with various known bugs and glitches, intended only as a preview and playtest. We plan on making periodic releases every couple of months as new gameplay systems are developed, and welcome player feedback & suggestions on our forums.
INSTALLATION: Requires Doom 1.3 for Windows or Linux. Simply unzip the contents of the zip archive into your Doom 3 directory. In windows, double click "groundzero.bat" to play. Under linux, select "groundzero" from the mod menu in Doom 3. You will have to manually adjust the .config to change quality and control settings.
COMMON ISSUES: The included manual and known bugs document should cover most immediate questions. When you first enter the prototype map, be sure to press "c" and increase your character attributes and combat skills. Some people have reported a crash apparently due to the number of speakers being set to 5 in the included config. If it quits on you immediately, try setting the number of speakers in the .config (located in the plugin folder) to 2. Lastly, clicking "load" or "restart" after you die will cause Doom 3 to crash; you can restart from the main menu, but the most stable and consistent option is to re-launch the game. Check for hot-fixes on our forums to address these major glitches.
