Post news RSS From Mega Patch to Fully Fledged Release!

When we started this project almost a year ago to update STA3 as always we started off with the mantra "this is just a bugfix patch" but as time went on it became clear we could not just leave STA3 at the uprising update...

... in fact, it had become apparent in the multiplayer server especially that the players would never build the smaller vessels and in fact, had even begun to defeat in the AI by using colony ships combined with turret expansion to get rid of the militia diligently guarding the well as they had no planet bombing on.

Wind time forward to half a year in lockdown and we take a quick update to discuss the upcoming re-work of Star Trek Armada 3 and how we plan to re-introduce you to the new edition.

Unlike past editions of STA3 the first time you load up the new version you will notice that it has no edition name, it's just back to good old Star Trek Armada 3, that's because this is our final work, and we really do mean it. Of course, we will release a small patch if something breaks but we feel we have reached the end to our journey with STA3, the team itself is incredibly busy producing work for Stellaris and Sins with our Ship Packs, AOTF and AOTF2.

We already mentioned in a previous diary that now all ships are important even into the late game and specialise often against ships smaller or larger than their size with dedicated roles such as anti-capital and anti frigate by way of example.

To share how best to use the ships int he game with you we will be inviting members of our testing community with us in a series of live streams and similar to the days of a call to arms we will attempt to do a faction focus stream for each faction in the game showing off what abilities we recommend and how to use them in the game.

Finally, we have also overhauled a lot of the militia spawns too as it was clear some of our favourites just never appeared on maps, on some of the more high-value planets you can run into some horrific enemies now (The weak shall perish!) and both the planets and the maps will also be updated to fit in having been streamlined, we hope to release an updated galaxy forge map editor file so you can make your own too.

We hope to release our streams during November and December as we build up ready to a yet to be announced release date! Thank you as always for your ongoing love and support for the Mod!
