Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

after being in development for 6 years, this is a final status announcement for Ultimate Empire at War. With this post we are releasing our current version of the mod. As mentioned in other topics on our forum, it's not finished, but at least it is playable. More on that later. But first, let me good-bye the mod with a short history flashback of this project.

The history

Started back in 2006 by Augrunt, Ross and Jones, the idea was to create an ultimate mod, which enhances gameplay and gives FoC a more canonic touch. Leaded by Ross in the early days of the current homepage, the small team of these days was working on the well known UEaW V4 and released it in summer 2008. Continuing to improve their release and to start working on a successor the team restructured the command structure (the mod leader changed to doro) as well as the priorities – the eras were introduced. The next few years were an up and down of progress, team members and leaders. After Doro, Protoype took charge and afterwards a duumvirat of Evilbobthebob and LTCC (now known as Dr. von Wer) continued leadership of the mod. Most of the modelling progress was made in those days whilst coding was not at the top priority. Due to Evilbob leaving staff in summer 2010 and LTCC being busy with his education progress slowed down. Solar and myself took charge to start progress again. Unfortunately, solar too had to leave the team and so I was a lonely fighter for the next year. Although LTCC eventually came back after this time period, the mod had been already dead at this point for over a month. Now, another year later, the mod is released and officially declared as dead.

The current state

But we haven't slept in the years before 2012. Much progress has been accomplished – nearly all models and simple coding is finished at this time. Unit coding, mapping, scripting are also finished as included in the version we provide today. So in fact, UEaW is already a full product, but lacking some features – such as balancing, GC AI coding (AI scripting and skirmish AI is finished), bugfixing, VA (voice acting), some texts, death clones, model fixes and minor scripts.

If you want to use any of the files, please pay attention to the LICENSE file in the \trunk folder.
Please do also take care to proper credit files we have got from other modders. You can find them in all details here. If I forgot someone to mention, do not hesitate to contact me, there might be some little mistakes due to the long line of previous and gone team members.

How to download the whole folder

It's actually pretty simple to do that. I will provide an easy 3-step manual.
1. Download a SVN client(for example Turtoise SVN). You might have to reboot your PC afterwards.
2. Create a folder in your Forces of Corruption mod-folder and name it something like UEaW_V1, or whatever you prefer.
3. Right-click the folder, select SVN checkout and enter as “URL of repository“ Ultimate-Empire-at-war.com
Then lean back and wait for the download to finish, which might actually take a while. Have a coffee, play a nice video game, entertain your friends by reciting a poem or maybe even go out and enjoy the nature – do whatever you prefer. Once it is finished, you're done – that's the current version of the mod. If you want to start it, use the Launch.bat located in the top level of your folder. If there are any updates, you can just right-click the folder again and select “SVN Update“.

May I finish UEaW?

Basically yes. You can complete the mod if you like to do so and PM me. I will check what you have done, maybe even declare another beta-test and if everything is alright, we will upload your version to the SVN system. You can get in touch with me using the PM system of ultimate-Empire-at-war.com, moddb.com or send an e-mail to YuuzhanVong@gmx.de.
However, you are NOT allowed to make your own UEaW development group furthermore release what you've made in the name of UEaW without my consent.

At this point and as a last word, the whole team and myself want to say thanks to all our supporters, ex-team members, friends and especially fans. It was, at least for me, truly an honour to work for this mod and it really is a shame that we weren't able to finish UEaW. But who knows? Maybe in the future there eventually will be an excellent modder who finishes this mod.

This is a really sad day... I was looking forward to UEaW but at least you guys are releasing it before it dies again. Best of luck to the UEaW devs and thanks for all. Maybe I'll finish it for you guys if I find the time

Nope, this version is primary meant for developers, because it is unfinished. Through that, we think SVN is enough.

That's a shame because when I try and use the SVN like you have explained it always comes up with an error and I do not know how I can fix it so I can play your amazing mod.

It works fine for me... Maybe you must be an admin to do it? Or maybe the EaW folder is restricted... try creating a folder on the desktop. It works for me.

SVN doesn't seem to accept the address. same problem as gamer1486

certificate validation fails. thinks the website is malicious :(

You have to accept the certificate once. If you check the adress, it's a https, so the secured connection is necessary (and with that, the certificate too).

why is it that none of the factions have names, it took me awhile to figure out who the rebels and empire was and mostly everything doesn't have a text to it, my guess would be that there is no text files in the text folder,plus there isn't any starbases to even build stuff on stock maps so it's really un-playable,

i know it's a great mod, but in your news up there it does say this is playable!

The news also say to run Launch.bat...this builds the mastertextfile at runtime...2 of the factions aren't playable, there was a strange bug with that last revision, it killed the GUI layout and parts of the faction system, probably something accidently reverted some files to an older revision.

well, there goes pretty much the last good reason to play EAW. glad it got as far as it did though. good luck to the UEAW modding team in all your future exploits.

with any luck, someone will pick up where you left off and finish the last little bits, making this truly the best mod for EAW. i started keeping an eye on this back in 2008 during highschool. there have been times when i thought it had truly had it's last breath, but you all pulled it out of the fire. who knows? perhaps someone will do it again. wouldn't be the first time i've been pleasantly surprised.

Are you sure you have run the Launch.bat? This should build the mastertextfile at runtime. Try to use Build.bat and check, if a textfile appeared.

also in dem ordner heißen zwei dateien "Launch" und "Build", die ich ja starten soll. bei Launch startet zwar das spiel, aber wie gesagt, stimmt dann irgendetwas nicht. bei Build erscheint ein kleines schwarzes fenster und verschwindet wieder. das wars. bin zwar kein experte, aber ich glaube ich habe alles richtig gemacht.

Vermutlich nicht...überprüfe ob der Ordner im FoC-Mods Ordner ist, ob die Mastertextfiles im Ordner \Data\Text vorhanden sind und größer als 0 kb sind und ja...wenns dann nicht geht, kann ich dir auch nicht mehr weiterhelfen, dann fehlt irgendwas an deiner FoC-Installation.

Could someone please help me I have all the files in my mod folder and I click the launch.bat to play it but it just runs vanilla eaw foc.
Does anyone know how I can fix this please I want to be able to play this amazing mod.

ok hat sich erledigt das problem war das hier ein andere link ist als auf der ueaw seite der richtige link ist Ultimate-empire-at-war.com /svn/trunk/ ( ohne leerzeichen, wenn ich es als ganzes poste werden /svn/trunk/ gelöscht aus einen mir unerfindlichen grund

Would you be able to continue the mod if you made money out of it? If so, I recommend you put a donate button somewhere and advertise a little because I'm sure quite a few people will want to see this mod finished. I know 2 not including myself who would happily help out.

Moin moin,

ich habe mir jetzt auch wieder UEaW V1 runtergeladen, wenn ich aber den Launchbutton klicke startet die Komandozeile "Launching Game" es greift auf die DVD (EaW Gold) zu der ich sehe das erste Bild mit den Namen der Entwickler und dann springt alles zurück zum Desktop.
Ich wird Wahsinnig, warum funzt das nicht.
FoC läuft, Schreibschutz aus den Ordnern entfernt.
