Edain 4.4: Mae Govannen
Greetings, Companions of Edain!
Spring has come - the perfect moment to reveal Imladris for the Edain Mod! The Last Homely Home East of the Sea will be the center of the upcoming Edain version 4.4, "Mae Gowannen".
This version will take you to the elvish realm of Elrond, which lies hidden in the gorge of the river Bruinen. Protected by the Lord of Rivendell, who commands the Bruinen, knowledge of middle-earth is collected and guarded in the great library. The sword Narsil was remade in the forge of Rivendell and the Council of Elrond marked the start of the Fellowship of the Ring. Rivendell is very different form the other factions of the game: the goal of the faction is to reach perfection. The elves of Rivendell are few in numbers, though having much more combat strength and skill than their opponents. Their collected knowledge about combat is passed on in the barracks, so new tactical possibilities emerge to fight the enemy. As a result the gameplay of this faction differs a lot from the others. While normal units collect experience in battle, the elves of Imladris already have a perfected fighting style and collect their gained knowledge in different places.
Rivendell is protected by a imposing fortress, that can be armed with healing fountains, towers and side gates at various building slots. The gate can on each side be upgraded with floodgates to blow nearby enemies away. The whole game principle of the faction is focused on the buildable library, which collects knowledge during the game. By doing so it is provided with new fields of study and Lore-Master. As the game progresses and more knowledge is collected the variety of the faction grows. Units can use new skills or formations and improve already upgraded blades and arrows even further.
The hero line-up of Rivendell also quite differs from the other factions, since they also do not collect experience. As the units of Imladris, the heroes gain their rank - and thus their knowledge of new skills and combat strength - through the library. So Rivendell is in comparision to other factions at the beginning of the game weaker, but grows more and more powerfull as the game progresses.
On settlements and outposts Rivendell can make use of various allies. So it is possible to build a Tower of Lindon, a Hobbit Farm or a Dúnedain outpost, which can grow to a mighty ally once various extensions are build. Here you will also find Halbarad and his Dúnedain, whose gameplay fundamentally differs from those of the elves.
Regarding the lightbringers a few things have changed: they are now called Lore-masters and are single units. They can be appointed as Lore-master of the sea, stones, the wind or the light and so influence their sourroundings in diffrent ways and form new combinations. The entire system is a little bit more subtle to integrate the aspekt of magic meaningful. To compensate the siege weapon aspect, Rivendell is now able to bulid siege works and can recruit a unique siege weapon that can be upraded with special ammunition:

I always knew Imladris would be the next faction. Big out of curiosity, when are you guys going to reveal the info on the ring system update?
I don't think this kind of details will ever be revealed via news/articles, before the actual release. The new system will be something very innovative and a bit 'revolutionary', if we can say so.
Therefore, I guess that this significant aspect is going to be kept secret until the very last moment, as a surprise for the Edain Community. At least, this is what I regard as the most logical solution; I can't obviously tell, though, which option they will eventually opt for.
In the meantime, you can browse this interesting thread on MU about this very topic, in case you were very much curious about related discussions on the matter ;)

Rivendell is Elrond's home of course and Elrond going to be use power of Vilya. But Cirdan & Narya already exist in the game that remind me Gil Galad. May be you say that "if Gil Galad going to be there, İsildur, Anarion even Elendil should be there". I WISH they had been there
I can absolutely understand your wish and I'd also like to see a second age mod from Edain with all the famous heros. But, Edain focusses only on the thord age and in this period, Gil-Galad is long dead. So he will only be in the Spellbook.
Nevertheless, the hero-submod for Edain 3.8.1. implemented Gil-Galad through Glorfindels ring-system. So perhaps we have chance to see him in the new submod :)
GilGalad will be a summon hero with the last alliance spell in the spellbook (with Isildur, Elendil and Anarion).

The dunedain outpost looks a little too run down if you ask me but at least they have some decent siege finally and I sincerely hope there's another shire easter egg that gives us access to their ballistas again. I hated them but damn they were entertaining haha.
I have to say I disagree about the Dunedain, they're SUPPOSED to look run down, last of a ragged house, long bereft of Lordship

I was thinking, that you could add new outpost to Angmar, with snow and hill trolls and troll hero, Rogash, from RotWK!?
I have a question. I don't know if it is a bug of the 4.3.2, but when i change the game mode to legendary heroes, I think is like the conquest mode. So when I play legendary heroes, if I hold more than 4 min the half of the settlements, I win. It is suppossed to?

This is amazing, i knew the mod would eventually add the Rivendell elves but this is even more exciting than i expected.
Rivendell has always been (at least, for long time so far) one of the canonical and planned factions of the Edain Mod. So, it was certainly sure that Imladris would have eventually been released as all the other ones.
You are totally right, though, to be so excited. The faction has in fact been modified quite significantly for the new 4.0 version, with smarter, more lore accurate and efficient mechanics :)

Rivendell as the next faction that is very strange I thought a new faction of evil come first because at the moment we have more factions by the free people of middle earth
I might be mistaken, but I believe they were having a few issues with Misty Mountains, so I guess until they figure that out, they might as well do Imladris, which is less complicated to implement.

The only and I mean ONLY thing I think could be improved, would be to add a few more trees to the fortress, or perhaps some statues? It just feels like this isn't the garden that is Rivendell, other than that everything looks incredible!

Just one minor concern about the Imladris fortress now being square. I may be alone in this, but I thought the round design far prettier. However, I guess the practical reason was to allow for the 7th building plot?

When we play with Rivendell I'm sure soundtracks will have been awesome. If the music list not completed I want to suggest one thing in your compleisance. You know this song "Elven Morning Light"... (RotWK OST) When the attack with Rivendell forces to the enemy or summon hero spell with Gil-galad & others as answers of Author Ealendril, this song would be glorious. Besides when we are falling on battle ground "Elven Nightfall" would be exellent.

Which heroes can we expect beside Elrond. Will there be a lot of heroes or just a few, since it will be such a powerful faction. I am just eager to know and I am very exited to see that you are putting so much effort in this mod.
