Part I is done* and up!
Dark Interval: Part I includes four new chapters - the Prologue, revamped Welcome to City 17, Manhack Arcade, and Kleiner's Lab. Part I contains total of 11 levels.
Part I requires installed copy of Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer. It does not require HL2, nor the Episodes. Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer is a free platform, available in the 'Tools' section of your Steam Library.
To download Dark Interval: Part I, go to the Files section here and select the newest download.
Once downloaded, use 7zip to unpack the archive.
Place the 'darkinterval-release' folder in your \sourcemods\ folder.
Enable '-upcoming' beta option for Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer. This can be done via Tools->Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer->Settings.
Restart Steam.
Everything should be ready - now launch the mod.
Play.
Enjoy.
Review and share!
*Await further updates - we plan on expanding and supporting Dark Interval: Part I via post-release patches.
Also, we are aware that the dialogue sequences in the mod lack lip synching. This is a global issue in Source SDK, and, at this time, cannot be easily fixed. We're looking into possible solutions.
Again, nice job here. Would be really cool to have this have its own mod channel on SMC but I know you already have a Discord for it.
The hype is real!
Mind if I ask for an invite?
Same, where can we find the invite link?
Here's the link Discord.gg
Sweet! Thank you for your hard work! I'll try out this mod asap!
It's an almost [since this is part one of] great mod but please released sub-patch in next weeks on several things missing or needs to be fixed like lip sync is broken, add more beta (or like) related content like Beta citizen skins, Beta-style stalker, Pistol Shell Ejection that isn't added and replacing retailed Medical and battery stuff with leak version or remade version?
And one more thing this fixed/recreated Immolator HUD icon that got Flare one for no reason.
We will NOT add any leak skins. Get them for yourself on gamebanana if you want to, but for us - there is no point. We only change what absolutely needs to be changed, users are free to customize further.
We'd gladly do things like Consul model, but neither of us can make a convincing human model with facial animation.
There will absolutely be patches, andlipsync is not broken - it's just not there yet.
And you're never supposed to have immolator AND the suit, so that's a temporary icon.
Awesome job, keep it up that way! =)
The game apears to be very nice, but improve your scripts to make the game look more realist. Keep the good job.
Great mod, really loved the maps and the atmosphere and the voice acting was very good as well :) The dialogs were well written. The trippy effects on the Borealis were great as well. Were those inspired by Marc Laidlaw's 'epistle 3' article?
It's inspired by Marc Laidlaw's map "hazflick" from the Leak and his notes for HL2 intro, where player would be influenced by Gman distorting passage of time, with visual artifacts and strange sounds (page 192 of Raising the Bar).
But since Epistle3 is a continuation of these ideas, you are not wrong either.
Ah very nice!
I am sorry for the noob question, but how do you actually launch it after installing the SDK and copying the folder into the sourcemods dir? I've tried through Source SDK but that only gives a video stress test option. Full disclosure: I have 3 steam folders on 3 different HDDs, but only one - the main one - has the sourcemods directory. That's where I've put the mod files.
Restart Steam, and "Dark Interval | Part 1" should be in your games list.
Did it serveral times, reinstalled the SDK twice as well, and I have moved the mod files around several times, trying with each Steamlibrary dir. Nothing worked. I have the latest Steam, latest W10 update. The upcoming branch is enabled in the SDK as well. I can not seem to find a solution for this.

Oh great, I moved it around and now it won't appear for me either.
Edit: nevermind, unpacked it to SourceMods where Steam client is, it appeared. I am at loss here.
Sounds like a Steam problem... there's a direct/hacky way to launch it for sure:
In Steam, right-click on SDK Base 2013 SP, there in the library, and select Properties and then Set launch options. You'll see a command line prompt. Add the parameter:
-game "full_path_to_your_sourcemods\darkinterval-release"
In your case this would seem to be
-game "D:\program files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\sourcemods\darkinterval-release"
WITH quotation marks.
This'll tell the SDK Base to launch and grab mod resources from the folder.
See if it works!
Thank you very much, this solution worked perfectly - off to finally playing the mod! :)
I installed everything correctly. I can start the mod via Steam and hear sound. Then it crashes to the desktop with an Engine error. I‘m using a 2017 iMac with Radeon Pro 580 and High Sierra. Any ideas?
We never had a possibility to test mod on MacOS, so it is likely not compatible.
There is no binaries for MacOS, only for Windows are present, so it is not compatible.
However, there should be Wine for Mac, you can try it, if you haven't done that already. You'll need to install Wine first, then download Steam for Windows and install it within Wine. Then follow mod installation instructions (copy Dark Interval into sourcemods, download SSDK Base, set "upcoming" option).
To avoid re-downloading whole SSDK Base you may just copy or link existing SSDK Base from Mac version (do this before launching Steam, of course).
Do I need to own half-life 2 in steam for this? The description is confusing, stating that I don't.
You do not need HL2, nor the Episodes. All necessary content is provided within Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer, which is aquired for free (it's in the Tools section of your Library).
This mod is amazing.
Every time i boot up the mod, it shows the valve logo then crashes. Is there any fix to this?
