We've talked a lot about government mechanics with the last few updates, including rolling out the basics for the New Republic's (along with the influence system) in Thrawn's Revenge: Imperial Civil War , so today we're going to be looking at the way the government works for the Republic.
This is primarily based on a senate approval rating, through which you can enter a branching storyline (along with other effects) that leads to:
- The choice to depose Palpatine
- Order 66
- Imperial Star Destroyers and other tech
And more! In this video, I break down a bit more of how the system works.
Are you threating me with good content Master Corey?
Corey will decide this mod's fate
Corey is the Mod!
The more i read about the mod the more i want to execute order 69
I'd be interested to see if there would be any reprocussions siding against Palpatine. Perhaps furthur civil wars could errupt, with Palpatine's supporters leaving your faction alongside a swathe of other systems, armies and fleets. Imagine the chaos fighting the CIS AND Palpatine's allies!
Civil War is what happens when you *support* Palpatine. He's also where a lot of the cool tech comes from, which, along with the Jedi being killed, is part of the tradeoff. Having both branches be reskins of each other is not the direction we want to go
Well I'll be interested to see what else happens when you don't *support* Palpatine, besides keeping the Jedi of course. Regardless, it all sounds juicy AF
What advantages you get when preventing the Empire besides the Jedi surviving is probably one of the most interesting aspects of the alternate universe you enter when positioning yourself against Palps. Palps getting his way, Imperial tech and Order 66 happening is the scenario we already know after all.
Also, "deposing" Palpatine sounds easy on paper but it certainly wouldn't be as easy as just revoking emergency powers and an impeachment, he's a damn powerful Sith Lord after all and Mon Mothma appearing in his office stating "you're dismissed from office" certainly won't magically make Palps concede defeat.
I'd say canonically even if they were to succeed in preventing Palpatine from ruling he would still turn the clones against them and find some other plan to rule disney may have removed the control chips idea but the clones would still have some sort of brain washing there is no way they would turn against their Jedi friends just because of some government order
