Here is our yearly update for Battlefield: Korea! This brings the game to version 1.1, and it has many enhancements and additions like new factions, vehicles and more weapons and maps.

The full changelog is too long to post here, but you can find the complete list of changes and updates inside the mod folder in a text file named !IMPORTANT - Changelog.txt.
Some of the things you can expect in this release...
2 new factions.
Republic of Korea.
British Commonwealth Forces Korea.
Complete overhaul to weapons and tank handling.
Ability to zoom in tanks now. Press "X" key to zoom in to fire.
Multiple ordnance rounds for tanks. Press "F" key to swap the tank rounds.
Better bullet effects such as suppression and realistic ballistics and features such as bullet drop as well as bullet whiz sounds which increase the sense of realism and immersion.
The addition of proper Light Machine Guns.
Better HD explosion, impact and lighting effects.
Loads of new maps.
Dozens of new weapons.
HD ground, water and vegetation textures.Thanks to B4RR3l for letting us use the HD textures from his Battlefield HD Remastered mod. Moddb.com
Addition of all new medium bombers such as the Douglas B-26b Invader and Tupolev TU-2 as well as Ilyushin IL-28 Beagle.
All new HD Willys MB Jeep and BA-64 models.
First helicopter has been added to game.
The quality of the mod has been drastically improved, as well as the stability. It is still not perfect, but we hope to keep working on it for many more years to come!
NOTE: You need both the Core files AND the map files to play the mod! Just extract the Levels folder from the archive to the BFKorea mod folder.If you already have the 1.0 release delete that version from your computer first before installing this. This is a full release, not a patch.

so the mod is not using any of the stuff from the remastered? Cause you guys asked me to use some hd textures but I can't see any credits there.
I have a credits file in the mod I constantly update. I didn't think it efficient to list every credit on the update page since there are too many contributors. But look inside the mod folder and we have a text file named "!Read-me-Credits!.txt"

I noticed a few of my old animation here, forgot all about them.
Wow long time no see. Yeah, we use the old reload animation you did for the M1 Garand instead of the PR animations. I would had used more but they didn't all line up with the PR animated versions of the weapon models that had 3D iron sights.
What a nice christmas present.

You can play it however you want. We just don't officially support multiplayer servers just yet until we can get the game to not be crashing in singleplayer. But if anybody would like to host servers for us please let me know I would like to test the mod out with others online.
The game seems to crash for me after about 10 mins of SP gameplay
Just keep trying. Sometimes it will last for 3-4 rounds before a crash occurs. Sp please just keep trying. It is pushing the engine pretty far with all the HD models, textures and effects we use. The AI is still not perfect at the moment despite me overhauling all weapons AI.
Oh God bless SP modes :( I think that is just too much for this poor old and great engine.
No it isn't that. This mod has been unstable since day one.
I am just 1 person doing much of the work under the hood by myself, with much needed help with vehicles and other things here and there from great modder friends here in the community.
The mod started in 2005, I found out about it in 2006, became a beta tester, and fell in love with the game. It was unfortunately abandoned by the original devs in 2009, and all assets were donated to Project Reality, and other Black Sand Studios BF2 sister mods. This is why you see a lot of our weapons in PR mod, especially in PR:WW2 and PR:Vietnam.
I was gutted when the mod was canceled, as my grandfather was a soldier in the US Army in the Korean War, so this is personal to me. In April 2016 I contacted my old friends the original devs and asked if I could revive the mod. They agreed and so I have spent the past 2 years with help from various friends in the community helping me with many things I can't grasp yet.
I was not even a modder until I started working on this lol. So honestly I am still a huge noob, and there are lots of things I just can't do all by myself, like squashing every single bug. I need somebody to help me with this one, but most of my modder friends already have huge projects of their own that they can't take too much time from, and that is completely understandable.
So I am in need of a really good veteran modder who has headed their own mods which they are already finished with, that can help me out and get the crashes down to zero.
If you guys think it crashes a lot now, you didn't play the first release. Now I am able to play 3-4 rounds of a map before it crashes. Crashing is of course random, and 10% of the time it can crash in loading screen, while other 90% it will load that map up fine later on. So it isn't the game engine, but the mod which needs fixing.
+ refraktor has cursed SP secret bugs lol, I think is possible to improve, but not sure if any mod will ever run a full COOP rotation without a single crash. P.S. I hope you can add your grandpa and his flamethrower at some point, that would be epic! From a noob to another, awesome mod.
Thanks! Well we do have the files in the mod to do the US Army faction, but I was going to hold off on addimg them to maps for a while since we already have USMC and ROK with very similar loadouts.
Also, there is only 1 map in the mod where we do have the flamethrower, but as it was unfinished and animations were kind of placeholder, I didn't want to add it to many maps. Try out the Bunker Hill map if you all want to try out the flamethrower.

Hi Anthony, are you still working on v1.1? I understand that it takes time with just yourself and the occasional helper. I was intensely interested in this mod when it was first announced, partly because I don't know of any game that has emulated this war. One of the mappers I beta tested for said he was moving over to help the Korean mod team, (The Dark), but he then disappeared from the scene. I don't know whether he contributed any maps to the project before he left. I was also gutted when they announced the project was being scrapped, so when you took up the reigns I was extremely pleased.
Thank you for all the time you've taken over v 1 and I do hope that we will see further wrk on this mod.

Thanks for the kind words my friend. Sorry for late reply, but yeah still working on Battlefield 1944 at the moment, a recreation of Battlefield 1942 in BF2 engine in HD. Battlefield: Korea mod is unfortunately highly unstable, and as such my plans were to finish up 1944's first release and then use it as a base for BFK 2.0 and remove all German and Russian and Japanese equipment not used during the Korea war. Then I will add the more modern equipment and maps and factions over from BFK 1.1 and call it BFK 2.0.
Unfortunately when developing mods as ambitious as the ones I have created my teams and myself overestimated the time needed for getting everything finished. I originally planned to be done with first release of 1944 by December 2018, but that didn't happen. It was then that I would have started work back on BFK 2.0 but we all know how real life got in our way.
Good mod, but some maps crash when loading. Is there any fix for it?
Hi, sorry the mod is highly unstable and we planned on recreating the mod from scratch after I am finished with my current mod Battlefield 1944 which is a remake of 1042 in HD in BF2 engine. I was going to use that mod as a base for BFK 2.0 since it is much more stable than this one is.
Well I also wait for 1944 mod, I think it will be the best mod of WW2. However there is another problem in bfkorea. The controls are reset everytime I start a map. It's only with this mod. Please fix this problem in the next version.
All issues will be resolved when we release the new version.
