After a super generous contribution from CEO Linda Macgill (AKA Methelina) and her team at Bug Zen, the bestiary is now making great progress.
Having beasts modeled and skinned by freelancers can cost up to a few thousand dollars per creature. At such an expensive cost, progress with the bestiary would have dwindled until Oliver had more time to finish them in-house, or we may have even had to have cut some of the beasts from Kenshi altogether... But, thanks to the kindness of Linda and her team, we now have help!
So, we've formed an alliance with the incredibly talented team at Bug Zen, a small indie game development group. They've now begun modelling, rigging and animating some of the beasts for free for us. For free! Man, they're crazy! On top of that, Linda has also given us code for rendering technologies - this will help hugely with progress in the future. Linda has already finished designing and modeling the first leviathan giant too - here are her work in progress models:
Next, you can see Linda's model with the final texturing and details - all that's left to finish it off now is the animation stage. Special thanks go to David Alexandersson (aka Tiwyll) for the rigging and animation, and Stephan Samosevich (aka Link) for it's texture adjustments.
Huge thanks to Linda and the team for making the full bestiary possible...
You can see more of Linda's work on her Deviant Art page here
Some damn great news man I sent her a thank you cuz this is epic sauce.
I hope it shortens the production time considerably. And I hope you give them the ability to pick up multiple troops for us modders hehehe also wouldnt it be fun while they eat people they pick them up and chew on them?? HAhahahaha! Well anyway please add blood / dismemberment KENSHI ROCKS BEST GAME OF THE CENTURY!!!!
No worries, blood and dismemberment is definitely on the list ;)
I thought leviathan was a sea creature, and behemoth was a land creature?
That being said, you need to make a Behemoth that dwells in the sea.
You are right i believe
Holy **** that looks great
That's the coolest creature I have seen in a long while.
Looking forward to seeing these hulking around ingame, they look awesome!
Having wildlife and amazing creatures like this will definitely give the game an even more unique feel than it already has. Definitely the most excited for an in-dev game I've been in a long time. Looking forward to future updates!
WoW! That looks like a behemoth style from the sci-fi movie "The Mist"! Incredible creature you lucky guy!
