I find your lack of Yuuzhan Vong disturbing.

On a more serious note. It looks great but will we now also get turrets on the belly of ships ?

All our ships have turrets on their belly. Just browse through the image section for a bit, and you'll see.

Hmmm Looks fantastic. But... I imagine SDs will want to hug the bottom of the space-floor as none of their major armament can fire down.

I have two points regarding axial movement. We can ignore yaw or z-axis movement since that has been standard in 2D EAW since launch.

Concerning rolling on their x-axis: non-starfighter-type ships could be allowed to roll and thus we would have upside down ships (realistic, and happens - numerous movie and book examples). Of course, a whole new complex interface would be required to control THAT kind of movement. And we see none of it in these pictures (I think).

Concerning pitching on their y-axis: I am curious if players will be able to manipulate the height of their ships or if it will be set on hyperspace jump in... Granted, in these pictures there are several instances in these pictures of ships pitching up and down... but I don't know if they are moving in those directions or just FACING in those directions (eg, moving between heights or just facing different heights while limited to their own). Evens so, even just movement between layers would require a new interface, although it would be simpler than an x-axis interface.

I would humbly suggest that the Homeworld series solved the vertical height issue perhaps more gracefully than any other rts. But implementing such a system in EAW's engine might be terribly difficult, at best.

Keep up the good work guys!

Putting it simple: Interface functions specially mouse or keypress related are not accessible for us modders.
Thus you wont be able to control a ships yaw or roll.
A ship's height is determined on its hyper jump in.

But, not all ships are bound to their initial layer. Smaller, more agile ships use the same initial moveset as fighters do which had to be heavily tweaked to work properly.

And as I've mentioned above, all our ships feature belly weapons.
There is a certain inner logic to what layers a ship can appear at. Each of them is carefully tweaked.

Wish we had several features from homeworld in this game ... we sadly don't. We have galactic maps with story missions and ground combat instead.

Just a little showcase of what Kad has been working on lately, as you can see, weapon arcs have just become slightly more important...
