You spoil us with these extraordinary models! It is incredible, its incredibility would leave me speechless had I not such an advanced vocabulary that allows me to describe the extraordinarity of these models that this mod has produced over such a short period of time.

It is the stuff of legends, game companies should take a long and hard look at their games for not making them mod compatible at all as of late.

If only Petroglyph made modding this game even easier and released the source code then we could very well create our own sequel and so much more.

Such is what I think when I see the awesome models made in this mod!

EDIT: P.S. I prefer long wings for it makes it look menacing, dangerous and almost beast like. Like a razor in space decimating its enemies and cutting them to shreds in seconds with its overzealous weaponry that would be fit for a small starcruiser!

Long live the Empire!

Point is, we can right? We can edit the .exe and all that. But then you get point 2, which destroys point 1, and that is that it is illegal, if we use even a single line of code or script that has been made by petroglyph, and it is for a profitable company we'd set up it's illegal and they can sue people for it. Thanks on the compliment though, appreciate it ;)

You're welcome. But what I mean with the release of the source code is... Well take a look: Moddb.com

These guys asked the company for the codes (they didn't have them) and the company gave it which made their mod (which was already beyond my belief) even more astounding. Its almost not even the same game anymore!

But for now I shall leave this within my dreams, the dreams of a Empire at War 2 hehehe.

And in the way risk the end of this project before even a beta is released? I wouldn't.

End of this project ??? Lol man anyone can easily transfer all data to custom website where no one can force them to stop modding. You know moddb is not the only site...

Just putting it out there but I love authority and break the rules only on a very limited basis in comparison to others of my age group and in no way wish to imply by my earlier statements that I enforce illegal acts or condone them.

Plus it is not a minor illegal act of reverse-engineering the .exe, there were some cases in the USA, where fines of more than 5000US$ were imposed. And we wouldn't be accused only by moddb, we would be accused by Petroglyph/LucasArts (think LucasArts, they were the publishers).

The ultimate anti-everything fighter. Not even the enormous Supercapitals are safe from it. Its like the Apocalypse tank of the SW universe. Love it!

By the way guys exactly how many of you guys only used the defenders to take care of the enemy forces in the vanilla expansion? I know I did XD

Have done that, fully upgraded defenders. 10 squadrons rip through just about everything except fighters or corvettes. We intent to do it a little different in this mod though, so you wong have one squadron destroying 3 others, except if you would put a squadron of these or interceptors vs 3 heavy bomber squadrons of yesterday, that might work. Then again those are designed to be heavily escorted at all times. 4 times the damage of normal bombers though.

So after some quick rigging and coding I can garantee that it is one of the more eye candy units to use, in terms of how the weapons are set up it is very fun to use too.

i thought the regular armarment was just 4 lasers, 2 ion cannons, and two missile launchers. Isard's Revenge had that as the armarment anyways.

Oh I don't know, I've just seen the movies and played some games and then went into modding finding out that there were many, many more ships. I just go with my fantasy and fractals, so far people seem to like it so the other thing might be canon, though with the 2 extra lasers the firing looks better. I'm that profesional ;)

I just like to stick to my fantasy, rather than canonial reference. Our main coder shimrra is a massive canonial freak though so it might go either way.

You can check the wookepedia if you ever need detailed canonical information about any star wars stuff.

We will be following the novels as close as possible as our chief reference source, supplemented by the comics. We will be altering specifications to enhance the game play for your benefit.

I'm a bit confused- the defender is already in the original game- why use time and effort making a model, skin, etc. that you already have a perfectly good version of? Why not work on the other stuff that you want, but don't have?

a good question, but one must realize the entire scope of our mod's intentions. We are recreating the entire game. Every model, prop, special effect etc. We are not simply just adding units here, we are creating a masterpiece. This game will play much differently than the normal FOC. Aside from adding a new race, we are incorporating new ships, factions, strategies and game play mechanisms. Plus, we want all of our faction's forces to match. We do not wish to have ragtag collection of ships that all supposed to be from the same planet, yet look very different from each other.

We have a huge endeavor set before us, but we are dedicated to it's cause. We are creating something very special here.

Your patronage and support keeps us motivated, we make this for you the fans.

Description

One of my favorite ships simpely because of its looks, the TIE Defender is a figher bomber designed by the Empire. Go figure.

Modelled with atleast 6 lasers, 2 ion cannons and 6 launcher tubes located on each side of the cockpit and 3 other random things attached to the wings, it's a pretty heavily armed ship.

So now that you know what is exactly NOT going to be the armerment of the ship, lets go to what it WILL actually use. Proton torpedoes, 4-6 lasers and 2 ion cannons.

Wings are probably a bit longer than most Defenders, because I went with Fractalsponges design (as usual, what can I say, the man makes some good looking models) and the wings did look larger than on normal TIE designs. Personally I like this look more, do tell me what you think, little discussion topic, long wings, or short wings? Don't forget to also give some arguments for your opinion or else you'll get 0 points.
