Why this mod?

Age of empires II is my favorite game since I tried it 15 years ago. I played it a lot so I noticed few weaknesses in it :

  • Each civilisation has bonuses and a unique unit to make it different from the others but the gameplay still quite similar
  • Some of the bonuses doesn't fit with the historical military tradition of the civilisation
  • Some of the architecture sets doesn't fit with the actual buildings of the civilisation

As it's a very long work to make a mod to fix everything I decided to first focus on the Celts because they have a very strange bonus with siege weapons. I'm planning on working on the other civilisations once the Celts will be really interesting to play.

English is not my mother tongue so please forgive the mistakes and corrections are welcomed!


The changes

The Celts will have their own building set wich will be as rich as the original ones.

Gameplay:

Inspired by the excellent mod "Age of Chivalry: hegemony" the Celts will be allowed to choose from 3 sub-factions : Scotland, Wales, Brittany.

Each sub-faction will have its own forces and weaknesses. The choice of the faction will replace the castle age technology:

Brittany:

Strong light cavalry and mounted-skirmishers

Wales:

Strong archers

Scotland:

Strong pikemen


This section will be completed soon with a full technology tree and explanations of my choices

That would be a good idea to had them too be I don't know Ireland history enough to make it interesting for now.

The ingame Celts speak old Gaelic, the structures you've used for reference are also an Irish thatched design, I absolutely love your feudal age buildings as they are 100% Irish Celt structures.

I'm born and raised Irish, this Mod brought a smile to my face, it's a shame I can't find anywhere to download it as I would LOVE to playtest it and offer my own insights and suggestions.
