Vice City: Multiplayer mod

After four successful rounds of public beta testing, including a release of the server for developers, the Vice City Multiplayer team is proud to announce that version 0.4 is nearing its final release; that being said, we are declaring the current build a release candidate suitable for our player base to use, spare a few things that we'd like to iron out.

Among the changes since our last beta, we've fixed a number of bugs, glitches and crashes, expanded the toolset available to server scripters and plugin developers, and set up a polished masterlist exclusively for 0.4 servers.

The changes since 0.3 have been even more extreme. A full list will be posted once we reach a final release, but some of the changes we're most proud of are:

• A complete rewrite of the VC:MP core with a focus on stability, speed and a server designed to be lightweight
• An even greater degree of game customization by server owners, including custom objects, custom radio stations, custom weapons, keybinds, a more refined spectating system, and other changes
• Extensive optimizations of the network code to reduce bandwidth usage while also limiting the effects of latency on gameplay
• Numerous bug and crash fixes for issues that have been longstanding in multiplayer
• Support for Steam versions of the game

14 community servers are already running on 0.4 and we anticipate more going up as server owners make the jump from 0.3, and we hope you'll make the jump with us. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask on forum.vicecitymultiplayer.com.
