I played for years with Darnified and wanted to try VUI+

After trying and failing (guide Moddb.com helped me little as it is for NV) to get it to work in Fallout 3 I gave up, removed it and reinstalled DarnUI

And now I have a message that VUI+ is not installed correctly every time when I open starting menu and my fonts looks huge compared to those from DarnUI which I am accustomed - clearly there's more to uninstalling VUI+ than simply removing it from Mod Organizer 2.

My relevant mods order:

1) Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch (OGG)

2) UIO (I don't know what to do manually if it doesn't do it automatically)

3) Vault Girl Bikini

4) Dynamic Crosshair - Vanilla UI

5) VUI+

6) Vanilla HUD Remastered (mod from NV but should work in FO3?)

7) VUI+-Vanilla HUD Remastered Patch 1.83m addon

8) DIFF - Descriptive Icons for FO3

9) Vault Girl Apparel Icons

10) VUI+-Vault Girl HD Patch 2.0 addon

11) sk_HUD (in its installation process it detects VUI+, so should be the last?)

After trying this Pip-Boy screens are an absolute mess and I have warning that something overwrites VUI+

Any help would be appreciated to install VUI correctly or at least how to get rid of that annoying start menu message.

Edit: Removing folder "Menus" from MOO2 overwrite folder does the trick to remove last remnants of VUI from FO3.

Still would be nice if there were clear instructions how to properly install VUI+ in FO3 for us simpletons.

Thanks to the old UIO messing up with menu files, any UI mod you see in MO2, active or not, should be considered broken. This has nothing to do with VUI+.

To fix,

  1. Close the game from its menu instead of using Alt-F4.
  2. Uninstall (not just disable) all mods except for the Unofficial patch and its "Highly Recommended Mods". Hopefully none of these contains menu files.
  3. Delete any remaining overwrites in MO2. You know how to do that, right ?
  4. Start adding your FO3 mods. Never install New Vegas stuff such as Vanilla HUD Remastered. This was a huge mistake.
  5. Do not install UIO for FO3. It's ancient and, unlike UIO for New Vegas, it made my life really hard in the past years.
  6. Do not allow mods to overwrite VUI+ unless instructed to do so.

The next version of VUI+ for FO3 will no longer work with the ancient version of UIO for FO3.

Thank you for the answer.

However none of the above mods warned me that they would overwrite VUI+, so the chances of me getting VUI+ to work in FO3 after reinstalling my 200+ mods are slim to none.

I'll just try VUI+ in New Vegas then.
