Is it possible to restore the button prompts next to actions e.g. E next to Activate. Sorry if this is mentioned somewhere else but I can never find stuff.

Yes, at the settings file.

Few months late to the party, but where exactly is the setting, and what is it titled? This mod is a great update to the UI but the lack of a prompt feels weird.

It's removed now because the latest fix for the long NPC names & Living Anatomy bug would require complicated code to retain the button label.

This label is redundant. This isn't a real button, it's just a prompt.

It seems so weird without the button prompt, I hope you figure out a easy way to restore it.

OK, I'll see what I can do.

Right, I've made this patch but considering how ugly I find this protruding shortcut, I'll ask you to try VUI+ for a few days as it is.

If you still find it weird without the shortcut, ping me here and I'll link it, but I won't provide any support or updates to it.

Ok, I'll give it a few days

Axonis, I gave it a few days, but it still seems weird to me. May I please try the patch? Thank you very much

I'd like to second this request - even if it'd mean that the option to restore button labels would reintroduce the long NPC name bug, I can always use Better Pickup Prompt to fix it, can't I?

I can understand why you might think the label is redundant or ugly, but I think you could just as easily argue in favor of it; almost every other method the player has of interacting with an item or a character features a button label, even when the button isn't strictly necessary, so in that regard it could be argued to feel more 'consistent'. If you play a lot of different games with different key bindings, it could also be useful - not every game uses E for Activate, after all. This is doubly true when you use a controller.

However, I can also understand that you feel the option would be too complicated to implement properly, so don't feel like you're obligated to do so or to even provide a patch.

OK, I'll try to make it an option again, even though I disagree with your point because HUD actions have no labels since they are configurable at the settings. For example you have no label for the reload/holster action.

Until I publish the new version you can use the patch I've made for Thinkpad4.

The VUI+ fix is superior to the one provided by BPP because it also fixes the name at the VATS and also stabilizes the general subtitles so that their position is no longer affected by NPC name wrapping. It was never an issue of removing the fix. The problem is that the code used for making the activator string a text button is complicated and I'd like to make my mod easy to read for other aspiring UI authors.

The option is back in VUI+ version 7.65.
