Twisted Insurrection is a critically acclaimed, standalone modification based on the Command & Conquer™ Tiberian Sun™ engine. It features a complete redesign of the original game, set in an alternate "what-if?" timeline where the Brotherhood of Nod was victorious during the first Tiberian War. Do you have what it takes to drag the shattered Global Defense Initiative out of ruin? Or will you crush all who oppose the will of Kane and his Inner Circle? The choice is yours commander.
I am pleased to announce that PB5.038 is up and available for download via the Twisted Insurrection client! After some consideration, I have decided to make selecting individual campaign missions a feature for those of you that are stuck on other missions.
This is mainly to prevent those of you that have completed or are half-way through the campaign from starting again to try out the new and or updated missions earlier in the game.
There is unfortunately a drawback with selecting individual missions instead of playing the campaigns from the beginning and that is that upon completing a mission, it will not launch you to the next correct mission in the sequence but will instead launch the GDI campaign from the beginning. This is an engine limitation that we can't do anything about I'm afraid and this is noted in the client itself before you select the missions.
While it is not a major drawback at all, this is just something that annoys me, but the ability to select individual missions is a highly requested feature so I have made it a possibility, the good outweighs the bad, right?
If you want to play the campaign in it's proper running order, you must select and play either GDI Campaign or Nod Campaign from the top of the list.
Enjoy the update!
ah this is good news, for the ability to pick the mission you want which skips a lot, having to start and exit the GDI campaign each time is a small price to pay.
thanks
Glad to hear you say that, it's pretty much the only downfall with the addition. It just bugs me a lot more than it probably should, I hate imperfections.
Am I mistaken in thinking that the Launcher hooks to the EXE? I thought it did and used that to keep the settings the same between the game and launcher and used that to also entirely skip the main menu...
I would think because of that, you could have the Launcher pick up when the player gets the victory and just have the launcher tell the game to load the next level...
Kinda like the StarCraft II editor, where if you're in the middle of a level the SC2 Editor can load a different level anyway.
Or maybe this is possible with the launcher, and the feature just hasn't been finished/started yet?
The Client doesn't hook to the game, it just tells the game which level to launch and with which settings (the menu skipping part is the result of some impressive executable hacking from Iran). Once the game is running the client doesn't communicate with it at all. However, once the game has exited the client will read SUN.ini again to sync the settings.
Worth noting: Winning my last loaded game from a previous version (Deep Blue) causes the jump too. Haven't checked with the others, but I figure it's the same. Known?
Yes, this is an issue caused by the addition of the new GDI mission. The campaign will run normally as before if you begin it again but will cause corruption of progress on previous saves before the update, which is why I decided to add this feature.
This is very good!
