This modification offers an alternative gameplay to Tiberian Wars involving many Tiberian Sun units which many CnC fans (like me) missing in vanilla CNC3 and add even new my made units which you can't find anywhere else. Story is quite the same like Tiberian Wars, but is all about what if GDI and Nod do not abandon technologies they have used in Tiberian Sun era and instead of that further developed them. But it's not only that, there are many visual, sound and balance changes which I want to see and hear in my mod, new sounds, new music, new effects (like blood and gore, new infantry deaths, new more realistic missile trails) and many more.
what does it do?
Gdi new hover unit. Originally it was light hover Apc, but then i realized that light apc is not gdi way, so i come with different use for this unit. Now its light and fast unit for early game reconnaissance and is also useful for rush tactic. Its armed with rpg launcher strong vs vehicles. Possible upgrade is sensor pod like orca.
It won't be too imbalanced? Light scout unit that can best the heavy-armoured vehicles... .
Imagine one spamming these on somebody trying to tank rush...
... and BTW the spammer discovers that such unit can take out buildings easily too.
made me remember the APC from House Ordos in Emperor Dune!
well, it´s cute
RPG tower on a hovering base. thats one awsome idea
Wait!
This will be like a light tank for GDI, right?
I hope it is xD
Not exactly light tank, my idea is sort of hover Hum Wee armed with anti-vehicle weapon.
could it not be replacement for pitbull, ie early anti air unit?
That would mean a turret change i guess though...
The replacement for pitbull is actually Hover Mlrs, it got AA missiles you know. Falcon must be something different to keep game diversity.
My AA defense is APC with rocket squad so i never found a use for hover MLRS, but i get you know, nice model btw
What about an upgrade for it to Falcon 2.0 (visual armor upgrade, bigger and more powerful engines to carry more weight, improved Weapon(s) because now it looks like it has paperthin armor)for late game? Upgrade should be expensive... maybe 3000. But at this way you can transform an early game unit to a late game type.
That is interesting idea too and i will think about it, but its a bit in contrary to my initial idea of fast weaker and chipper recon vehicle with some secondary ability or abilities which makes them useful in late game. Im testing sensor pod and upgrade to shock-wave grenades which works similar way as shock-wave bombarding - basically add EMP to normal attack damage. All together it works fine, but everything might change.
Well - it was just a suggestion. Your idea sounds also very reasonable, so think about it. Every step foreward is a good step. It's your work and all we can do is to wait and to keep our fingers crossed for you. ;)
Nice, looks great. Straight having a hover legion lol
again, good but the turret is too big and the hatch too small
Who's quotes are you going to give it ( i think the sling shot's quots would sound good with it)
It's nice to see that you're venturing to add units, and not just change some. The problem I've had with playing C&C 3 is that each unit slot on the construction list seems to fill the same roll no matter which team that slot is on. This innovation should brighten it up a bit.
But, what I wish to know is if it's possible to make the hover units cross water, it makes it a little unfair that Nod has a way to cross the water with subterainian attacks, but GDI can't with their normal technology.
If you need an idea on how to get around this, I might just have one along with an explanation; The rippling of the water's surface limits free-floating hover vehicles from crossing water, because it would mess up the air flow underneath. In order to cross the water, a hover vehicle must go into a turbo mode. The turbo ability is your basic "Charge" attack. To use the ability, you click on the icon, and then select where you want the unit to dash to, it can only work in a set distance around the unit using it. When the vehicle charges, it disables the weapons, and charges the propulsion by tilting forward. Once at full speed, it is almost impossible to hit, any infantry caught in front of it get splattered, and it can cross any water or chasm between the start position and point selected.
Think of it as the MLRS or Falcon becoming a sonic emitter blast with a model of whatever the unit using the ability is, and where the blast stops, it respawns as a normal unit.
I did something similar, i have employed zone troopers jump jet ability. It works, but there is a problem, if you have couple of units in group and use this ability they all ends on one spot, and that is not good so im not sure if something like this made to final release.
I once had 80 squads of Zone troopers look like one O.o it was in a mission I was screwing around AHHAA but it lagged right up ... anyways yeah thats not something you want to have you could make it so that nothing can be there at that moment nothing else can go there or if somethinglifts off to that spot it kinda blocks it off and units go to next closest one? its kinda complicated though... i think?
I only have one question about these hover units: will be there special abilities for them?MLRS does'nt have any spec. ability, and that's make me so confused that other units do have something special ability (like lay mines, set target) :S
Anyway, if it will have spec. ability it, I would suggest it to have bombardment like juggernaut.
It must have special ability to be useful in late game. Bombardment is not good idea, you cant have two units with the same ability, one of them will be useless.
But how about Emp cannon as upgrade on Tier 3. Im testing this these days and it feels good enough.
It will be an upgrade or a spec. ability?
i think it needs wheels, it would make it feel more GDI
i wouldent mind this being a t1 tank.
mayby move titan to t2.
this is just my thought as the titan pwns anything early game, alongside a wolverine they become unstopable. :)
Please keep it in and be able to be upgraded with aa, anti vehicle, or anti iinfantry
Hmmm, special ability idea, deploy it into a turret like the soviet reaper from Red Alert 3 Uprising? just a thought...
