Hello fellow gamers!

I'd like to share some screenshots of my Tiberian Sun Mod on the Vietnam War.

The 'Nam : Vietnam Combat Operations is a real time strategy game which recreates company-sized combat operations set during the American phase of the Vietnam War (1965 – 1973), termed by Vietnamese as the Second Indochina War.

Players can choose to play as the US Marine Corps or the Vietcong (VC) and People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN).

Marines can draw support from additional service branches like the Army for Special Forces (SF) troops, plus the Air Force and Navy for land and carrier-based air support. The VC and PAVN in turn, can set-up and capture villages or go underground and fight from hidden tunnel systems.

The game has over 100 units ranging from Marine riflemen to Vietcong guerillas, all the way to water buffalo, villagers and even Indochinese tigers prowling in the deepest parts of the bush. It is nearing completion and will be ready by 2020. Audiovisuals are courtesy of a wide range of awesome artists and programmers (Mig Eater, Mad HQ, the Traditional Music Channel, etc.) who will be included in the game manual.

Here are some quick snaps as a teaser. Full-sized images can be seen here: Bit.ly

Masters of ambush and lightning raids, VC and PAVN forces are always cloaked until they surround and attack their enemies. (VCO)

US Base.jpg

The US Marines operate out of makeshift firebases or larger basecamps, such as this one near the Demilitarized Zone or DMZ. (VCO)

VC Basecamp.jpg

Just like in real life, VC and PAVN basecamps are either camouflaged by the jungle or made to look like a civilian village. When enemy aircraft, armor or infantry approaches however, these deadly villages light up with AA, artillery and small-arms fire. The headquarters building is temporarily uncloaked for this illustration. (VCO)

US Armor.jpg

Marine armor, though often bogged-down by rough terrain, pack a serious punch and absorb lots of punishment. Giant amphibious amtracks can transport troops while flame tanks puke gouts of napalm. The key is to stick to roads - but be wary of mines. (VCO)

US Troops.jpg

Marines move slowly, but carry very, very, very big sticks. They can also call in obscene amounts of artillery and air-support, so plan your attacks well. (VCO)

Convoy Ambush.jpg

Supply columns made up of long American and Vietnamese truck convoys are the lifeline of the game. VC and PAVN excel at ambush and standoff attacks. Their sappers can infiltrate Marine and ARVN bases to wreak havoc. (VCO)

VCO.jpg

"You can kill ten of my men for every one I kill of yours. Even then, you will lose and I will win," once said Ho Chi Minh to the French. The same became true for the Americans. In The Nam: Vietnam Combat Operations, kill ratios closely match historical numbers, with from four to six Vietnamese killed for every American life. Can you do better? (VCO)

Developed by Tiger Yan over the last decade, The 'Nam: Vietnam Combat Operations will finally be ready in 2020. Stay tuned. (VCO)

Now is the AI actually enhanced or does it just spam buildings and units.
Is the game-play speed increased to match that of red alert 2? I feel that that game used the engine at the perfect speed.

The AI attacks earlier, with much larger armies. AI taskforces effectively mix units. Aircraft are used to more effect. Harvesters are targeted more often etc...

In multiplayer testing I've found that most games last about 15 - 35 minutes. I haven't played RA2 for ages so I can't make a comparison.
