This is a heavier armored V-35, with stub wings, different engines, and a lot of weaponry. Isn't able to carry stuff tho.

If it has less then 5 guns on it then it isn't GDI equipment.

So much guns, that is one of the most Orky gunship models I've ever seen.

I want to see the final render and the skin for this little monster, but I bet such level of firepower won't come cheap but sure it will be worth it.

Scythe? Isn't that kind of a Noddish name?
Can this Attack Air as well as Land? It seem Able to.
CAN'T WAIT TO TRY THIS OUT!!!

Scythe sounds more Russian origin in name than it would be a NOD name since NOD tends to stick to insect/arachnid and stealth/religious names in their units. Next thing you know theres a Necris force looking for that cicada that sacked their base

actually, I find "Scythe", as a refference to "the Death", aka Darth Vader with a Scythe, pretty fitting for a GDI unit.

Will this replace some unit or supplement the GDI Air Forces?

It's planned to replace the Orca bomber, but it might become a new unit alltogether.

IMHO it should be able to carry 1 unit / vehicle only , rather then carrying none

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
Sarge_Rho Author
Sarge_Rho - - 4,654 comments

IMHO not. It's entirely a gunship, not an attack transport or so.

Compare it with an Apache, not a Hind.

why compare this thing to an apache when thats very clearly the Orca's job to be the anti armor gunship. its clear this thing is much heavier and is purpose built for fire support then direct attack roles. That and it looks to have on board A.D.W.S on top to keep enemy attacking aircraft from directly engaging it.

That acronym standing for Area Denial Weapon System which is a defensive weapon hard point to keep enemies from entering certain range.

I do agree it should be able to take something to and from point to point even though its not its intended use.

It isn't going to be able to carry stuff, that's the V-35's Job. Also I was comparing it to RL-helos...

And i was saying Orca's Job would compare more to the modern day Helo then something that size there in your scythe.

The closest IRL thing to the Scythe is probably the AC-130. However, Apache and Hind were the most fitting comparisons for this particular case.

Thought of something closer. What about modified Blackhawks used as gunships vs transports?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
Sarge_Rho Author

In that case, think of a blackhawk with the transport compartment made smaller and full of ammo and other stuff, but no place for transporting people.

You don't intend to have a reload functionality in this unit do you. so it operates as a constant support craft since it contains its own munitions?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
Sarge_Rho Author
Sarge_Rho - - 4,654 comments

Oh, it has to reload, but can operate for quite a while without returning. It's intended role is that of fire support and that of patroling large areas.

Not as much as against infantry and structures, but it can still smack a vehicle quite nicely.
