Darkness... My body hurts! Or is it my brain? The explosion! I remember it now. Maybe I'm in a coma? Or even worst, I may be already dead... Everything is so confusing... Zombies, monsters and ghosts from the past are filling my mind... Oh God, so many memories mixed with my dreams! I can't even distinguish them anymore. What if my entire life was just a nightmare? But it felt so real... Wait, what's that sweet voice? Sounds like a nurse! THAT is part of reality, I am sure. Now if I could just concentrate on this voice and try to wake up...

Please, understand that I am very busy, and
unfortunately miss sufficient spare time
to fully focus on fixing mods anymore.

Other than that, and if other users have
encountered some of the issues that were
fixed, before, I do hope that this patch
will bring more fairness, gameplay wise.

I wish you a happy playthrough and by the
same occasion would like to thank the
modding community for standing strong and
remaining active and creative.

Have fun!

Thank you for your kind words, and once again thank you for having created ModDB.

As I already stated, this allowed for programmers, artists, sounds designers to demonstrate their talents, and not only did this allowed people to benefit from thousands of content, but also eased game company job entry for most of them, or in any other places
requiring such skills.

Hi, I'm having a weird mouse bug. Mouse look doesn't turn around itself more than 360 degrees. I played with all the mouse options including raw input but it's not working. Vanilla HL and other mods are working fine. Using Steam. Any suggestions?

Hello,

To my knowledge, I already had such similar issue but only while playing Half-Life: Opposing Force.

I managed to get around this issue by enabling "Raw Input" in mouse settings. This can also be done by doing the following command in the console: "m_rawinput 1".

In other mods, including They Hunger and even with the Steampipe fix, I did not encounter such issue.

I do believe this issue is similar to the one found in this thread.

malortie This issue is not present when using the mod without this fix, which means the mouse issues are introduced by this fix and i already have raw input enabled and i only keep mouse look & raw input ticked. Strange because i never had this issue before with vanilla hl+expansions or any other mod.

Edit: It's the Client.dll that comes with this fix.

I am not sure that this is a problem related to the client.dll. This appears to be an issue with a library used with the game, SDL.

Github.com

As mentioned in this thread, Valve uses SDL as a way of retrieving OS related inputs and then send them to the engine. The client.dll uses the inputs processed by the engine to incorporate them with game logic.

It is unknown how the engine works internally, but according to this thread, it appears that SDL does not work correctly since the latest updates on Windows 10. This could be the cause.

Unfortunately, if this is an engine bug related I am afraid it would not be possible for me to fix it since Valve only has access to the engine's source code.

If this is a game related bug coming from the client.dll, it would remain impossible for me to properly fix it since I am unable to reproduce the issue.

During the upcoming weekend, I could try and have a look into the mod and see if I can reproduce this problem. I will let you know.

Hello,

This is a follow up to the mouse rotation issue.

In the first place, I would like to apologize, as my affirmations were wrong. You are right. there is a bug which prevents you from fully rotating more than 360 degrees.

Before continuing, I would like to precise that I do have attention deficit disorder, so it is easy for me to read between lines. Therefore, I interpreted your issue as 'unable to move mouse around' excluding the detail '360 turn around'. This is the reason why my verifications were incorrect. Once again, I do apologize.

As for the bug, I noticed that once I had disabled raw input, it worked correctly. I am not sure if you were able to get it to work without raw input, but in my case, it works.

Curious, I downloaded another mod 'Half-Life: Visitors' and applied my Steampipe patch to it. I also encountered the same issue.

Finally, I downloaded a fresh copy from Valve's Half-Life github repository and recompiled the source code. Please bear in mind that there were small changes to be made to be able to compile it with the latest Windows C++ libraries, but I have not changed anything else beside those small compilation errors. Once I had everything compiled, I created a basic mod folder with only client.dll and hl.dll, as well as a customized liblist.gam (for specifiying that the mod included custom dlls). I launched the mod, and the same issue occurs after I enable raw input.

As stated by @queener, this issue does not occur when playing the original 'vanilla' Half-Life game. This leads me to believe that the problem lies within the the game's source code available on Github. This could also be due to a problem with the way the engine works when users are playing game modifications.

Unfortunately, we will need to wait for a fix from Valve, or when someone else will have found a workaround. At this time, I recommend that you play without enabling raw input, or play the vanilla They Hunger mod without this Steampipe patch.

As i mentioned before, i tried it with and without raw input enabled but it didn't do anything. So, i stopped using the client.dll from this fix altogether. Now the issue isn't present but i don't how the mod will behave without the client.dll if i try to do a full playthrough. BTW thanks for talking your time to create and maintain fixes for these old mods.

Since all game rules and logic are handled in the hl.dll (the server part), you could theorically be able to play through the entire mod with no level bug/glitch.

However, without the mod's client.dll, you will encounter issues such as weapon animations not playing, default orange color for HUD, as opposed to red.

In a matter of gaming experience and especially if this is your first time playing, I would recommend that you play with the vanilla mod release, or you could try with this other patch:
