The setting is during the Warring States period (475 BC - 221 BC) though the start date is 360 BC; the unit rosters and gameplay remind me of Shogun 2 because most of the factions are different Chinese states with very similar rosters that differ based on a few enhanced version of a base unit type (so X State has better swordsmen, etc). Remember how in Shogun 2 the clans would share most of the units but then Date would have Bulletproof Samurai and Shimazu would have Heavy Gunners? It's something like that in this mod.

What factions are in this game?
I presume I do not need to download the "English patch and CTD fix" file below? Only your "data" file that you uploaded is required?

Hallo i'm not owner of this mod and i just update new patch with English translated and Fix
there is not done yet some text still vietnamese like unit name and character name, but everything are done translated to English you can try it just extract to war_states main directory and replace the old files cheers :D
i will update it soon when i already full translate them.

I have a problem the game opens but when I choose a faction the game loads a bit and closes any solution?
