The Theatre is an urban legend among many game communities not unlike the mystifying tale of the game Polybius. Supposedly it [The Theatre] was originally intended as an educational game played from a First-Person perspective. The game was said to have been worked on sometime in either the middle of 1993 or late 1994 following the runaway success of the Hell-themed 1993 hit, DOOM. The game never saw the light of day due to the bankruptcy and subsequent closure of it's parent company, Salida Software.
Because of this: the surviving gameplay is said to be nothing of repute. Just handing an unseen ticket to the usher waiting at the entrance to the dark and unfinished hallway and being sent back to the beginning of the lobby as if the game had simply reset.
Some have noted that the content anemic nature of the game creates a rather unsettling atmosphere. Combined with that are reports that sometimes the usher will be missing from his usual spot when being sent back to the lobby and further reports that some have stumbled upon a disfigured, utterly horrific version of the usher lurking in the dark hallway...
