In The Rising, there is no place to hide, there is no escape, and you will not be rescued. The only hope available for mankind will come from your determination and resilience. The time of avoidance and submission are over. The only option is to resist.
This is all going to be amazing, two cities full of atmospheric horror multiplayer, this is truly going to be a fantastic release, so take your time...
It's not that amazing. At now, these are just big, tall brushes with windows textures. The complete map looks like a very early draft, not a fantastic map.
And sur, this are will need a lot of detail :).
He said it's going to be amazing, i don't think he was commenting on the buildings or the video itself.
simply wow... and ehm.. when are you going to release beta?
Maybe you should be more like the above comment and be patient. Also, the mod looks great!
hey matthewD, on what engine version does the project run? Ep2?
Cuz else im kinda interesting to know you can make source run such big open areas, i tried it on the OB engine for a map once but it runs like **** and after reading found that they improved open area handling in Ep2.
Uhm....isn't EP2 the OB version?
Yep there is no "ep2 engine" it's simply "orange box engine"
EP1
Everything is the OB engine now, not to worry.
omg, that gonna take a ******* long time to give detail. good luck!
It's cool to see some of the early dev work. This will take quite a while though.
Hasn't this video been on YouTube for a while now?
It sure has.
whatsoever it named as
That is impressive for the Source engine.
i do like the looks of this video, although it's clearly still in development because the windows go in to the ground and are not well lined up at the corners, and all streets are still not to be seen.
one problem with maps like this is the fp second. for now this map runs fine, but you will soon notice frame rate loss ones you start to add detail to it. and a large wide open city like this clearly needs a lot of detail to make it realistic. optimization will be quit hard to have it well placed here, and detail brushwork will not help either when they are as large as these buildings. so success with that, especially because it is mp as far as i have understand it.
but, all in all i do like it and am interested to see if you can handle the fps loss ones the map is done,
success,
leon
you guys are rewriting I am Legend? :D
(Listen to their podcast, it has sth about dat.)
will we be able to go on top of these buildings?
hectic backround music
The music was nice, but there was an anti-climax at the end and nothing happened.
Are the finalized building gonna be brushes or props?
atm, even though these are just textured brushes, they don't look half bad. they are cut and textured in such a way where they look good, for something so simple. granted they look good at this distance, i imagine that those are still the base source textures, and haven't been optimized or replaced yet.
from this video the question that arises in me is, if this is going to be multiplayer, are there going to be vehicles? we all know the vehicles in source work fine in singleplayer but in multiplayer because of ping work terribly.
