This is the stripped down royal (or regal) armor Fili wears during the charge from the Gate - we're not doing the super-heavy armor versions for Fili and Kili.

and concerning the charge?, if you're right, but I think one of many outrageous or worse, scenes, and illogical, I saw, armor removed. ????? jajjaja for a charge against a heavy army of orcs 1.7m jajajajaj.

Richard Armitage described the reason for the change in the appendices. They wanted to make it a more last charge kind of thing knowing that this would likely lead to their death. As such they would rather fight unburdened as they had on the road. It would've been cool to see them charge out in full armor yeah and maybe a bit more sensible, but oh well. It is just a movie after all.
