In 1964, Nelson Mandela and many other leaders of the African National Congress (ANC) were charged with treason. Instead of being sent to prison like in real life, they are given the death penalty. The Black population of South Africa are outraged and protest against the South African government. This leads to a civil war when South African police fired upon a group of anti-apartheid protesters in Pretoria. For 30 years, the country was torn apart. In the year 1993, the South African government agrees to negotiate with the ANC when a new, more lenient Frederik Willem de Klerk becomes President. Apartheid is abolished after heavy pressure from the international community and the ANC in the year 1995 leading to the National Party forming a coalition with the ANC and IFP.

In Central Africa, years of violence and bloodshed caused by centuries of Western imperialism has left the region greatly damaged, leaving new nations to rise from the ashes of war. In one of these nations, the newly formed Central African Republic, Joseph Manzala, a prestigious general who fancies himself as a great political leader, launches a military coup against the government seizing power within a matter of days. A devout follower of the ideals of Pan-Africanism, Manzala quickly begins expanding into neighbouring countries with the intent of creating a new African superpower after centuries of Western imperialism have rendered the region shattered and divided. Manzala’s ambitions soon cause many other Central African nations also damaged by Western powers such as Gabon, Angola, Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo thus forming the People’s Federation of Central Africa, or PFCA for short. Together, they eventually force the remaining countries of the region to join, either through conquest, show of force or persuasion.

With global warming becoming already becoming a threat, a global recession occurs in the year of 2009 leading to hyperinflation across the globe. The prices of resources such as oil and coal rapidly increase. In Europe, the only places that have these valuable resources are in Northern Romania and Scandinavia. In 2013, the European Union and an alliance of Balkan and Eastern European states known as the Intermarium fight over the last resources in the Northern Romania region. This becomes known as the 'Resource Crisis'. By 2017, there was little oil left. The EU and the Intermarium fought another war, this time more costly and bloody than before know as the Danube War.

By 2026 and the end of the Danube War in Europe, the European Union turns to alternative power sources such as solar and nuclear power. South Africa follows in the EU's footsteps and becomes one of the few countries outside of Europe to become self-sufficient on new alternative power sources. However, the PFCA, Africa's newest superpower, still uses the old fossil fuels to power their mighty army and infrastructure. With resources in Central Africa running out, the PFCA turns its attention to the countries of Namibia and Botswana. They still have plenty of resources but only share them with South Africa. On June 4th, 2029, the PFCA invades the two countries overrunning them in a couple of days. The Namibian and Batswana governments-in-exile request that South Africa intervenes and attempts to push back the PFCA invasion.

Features:
-2 very unique factions: South Africa National Defence Forces and the People's Federation of Central Africa
-A very different setting featuring the wild but beautiful expanses of Southern Africa
-New unseen weapons and vehicles
-Strong emphasis on sound design
-Original soundtrack produced and written by myself (NinjaTheCat)
-Absolutely no 'BF3 HUD'!

The District

Sorry to disappoint

Copied from my profile blog thing:

So basically, as you may or may not know i've been modding Bf2 for a while and have been working on a mod called The District. However, recently, having finished my A-Levels (a UK exam thing we take at the age of 18 in Sixth Form, not sure if it is done elsewhere), I have been gifted back my free time which I had hoped to put to the use of making huge progress on mod, or so I would have hoped. Today, I woke up to do some work on it to discover that my profile on my PC had become corrupted. After several long frustrating hours of Googling and watching countless YouTube tutorials about it, I could not find a way around it for the life of me, I mean I'm no expert which computers at all. Many of these tutorials state that as a fail safe I should delete my account and make a new one, which I have done resulting in me erasing several hundred GBs of stuff from over the past like 6 years, including Bf2 and all my modding work.

As a result, I now cannot possibly continue my Bf2 mod as i've lost all the files for it. This is extremely disheartening for myself having spent nearly 2 years working on it all for it to be lost as simply as it was. I had a back-up version on my back-up hard drive (USB hard drive separate from my PC), but this was over a year out of date and so much has changed since then. I just have decided to simply stop the mod. This is very frustrating as I've never completely finished any of the modding projects i've ever lead or worked on, as many I'm sure will remind me. Luckily i had started using a MacBook over a year ago for personal use stuff explaining what I'm typing this on now, and my PC was only for gaming.

I honestly cannot be bothered to reinstall all my games for a while meaning that I'm not sure if I wish to continue modding in future. I'm going to university in September and wasn't planning to take my PC with me, so probably from September onwards, I'll probably cease my activity on this site. This corrupt profile stuff has compounded this.

So, in conclusion, this blog post is sort of an unsure goodbye to Mod DB. It's been an interesting but fun time on this site over the past 4 years. I'd like to thank all of the like-minded people I've encountered who share my love for such a brilliant game as Battlefield 2 and work tirelessly to keep it active. Who knows, maybe this isn't my goodbye, perhaps in a week or so I might re-install Bf2 and try and create something else, or I may not, we shall see. Sorry to disappoint everyone again.

This looks like it could be a very interesting mod. I like the unique setting and factions, not many BF mods do Africa (except maybe POE, but that was a long time ago.) Good luck with this!

If POE is Point Of Existence, there's no Africa in it.

And yeah, I like Africa too.

I believe he is referring to that 1 map set in Sudan called Blue Nile in POE2. Also, I believe that POE1 for BF1942/Vietnam not that I've played it was set in Africa

Yeah it has that sort of vibe I guess, shame there aren't more films set in Africa, probably one of the most beautiful and unique continents on the planet that's often either written off because it is considered dangerous (which a lot of it is) or because no one seems to care about unf urgently. Out of the ones that do exist though, Black Hawk Down is probably my fav :)

Yeah, I can't agree more. And the same thing when it comes to games. So far it is only Far Cry 2 that did the 'African' setting, and that is really a good game.

Far Cry 2 was such a good game and for me, along with COD World At War and the Battlefield Bad Company games, was my introduction to the shooter genre after playing nothing but FIFA. It was really something fresh.
