Set in the Late Victorian Era, Steam & Steel: Total War features 30 factions and 5 sub-factions from the British Empire to the Sultanate of Aceh. The global campaign contains hundreds of meticulously researched regions, as well as unique political, economic, social and AI mechanics. The weapons and tactics of the era are well represented with 500 unique units each equipped with distinct weapons from jingals to howitzers. The culmination of years of development, research and testing, S&S will remain an active project; continuing in its aim of popularizing the history of the late 19th century.
A limited update fixing known bugs and introducing several new features.
Thank you!
...now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I'm in love, I'm a believer
I couldn't leave it if I tried
Who would have guessed that a song made 60 years ago could make sense to me right now. XD
What a Monkee ! 😁 love that song and super happy the mod has been fixed .
message error: cannot load C:\...\M2TWEOPLibrary.dll, but the file exists and the name is correct, what's the problem?
Try running in the Eop launcher in admin mode. If this fails, ask for a new dll file in the discord.
sorry to bother, I'm a steam player and I do not use EOP launcher, how to do?
EOP can only be launched via a discreet launcher unfortunately
A true pity! I like very much this mod, but cannot use now. I hope you plan to make it usable to Steam players, I'll appreciate a lot.
Unfortunately M2TW mods cannot be launched via Steam. While all mods are compatible with the Steam version of the game, they must be manually installed and launched as there is no central mod managememt system.
EOP does work with STEAM, and can be launched using STEAM - I've been using it for a few years now with STEAM.
He just needs to copy the medieval2.exe and rename it to "kingdoms.exe" - then when he starts the game through the M2TWEOP.exe it will launch the Medieval II Definitive Edition on STEAM.
Of course he can't start the mod without the launcher, so he needs to start the mod using the M2TWEOP.exe - which will still launch the STEAM-version of the game.
Thanks for clarifying, this was what i meant.
can you specify any other file to which apply the 4gb_patch? I followed the instructions given in the v1.0 version
4GB Patch Instructions:
1. The patch file "4gb_patch.exe" is located inside the main mod directory "steamsteel"
2. After launching, navigate to the parent folder "Medieval II Total War"
3. Select and apply the patch to both "kingdoms.exe" and "medieval2.exe"
Note: If kingdoms.exe is unavailable, rename a copy of "medieval2.exe" to "kingdoms.exe" and patch the file so generated
Instructions are also available on the tutorial page
ok, thank you
when me and friend tried to play hotseat the game would crash at some points at random are they anything i can do to fix it?
4gb patch issues are unfortunately inevitable with the m2 engine. Settlements are also a possible cause of crashes.
Siege battle in Akita,Japan gives crash. I think its due to missing textures
We're working on completely new settlements, hopefully this will be resolved. Current settlements are licensed from Chinese mods and quite buggy.
M2TWEOP GUI.exe - System Error The Program can't start because MSVCP140.dll is missing ,, can help me please ?
The missing file is an m2tw and not a mod file unfortunately. Try running EOP as administrator, failing that reinstall m2tw itself. If you're using the steam version it should run without a hitch.

Hello Shun...
In my first comment about this mod I said that this mod is my favorite and that the soundtrack from Germany is great. Unfortunately it kept crashing in the save game back then. You have completely fixed the error. Congratulations! The problem is that playing with this mod is still frustrating because in the first version it doesn't crash before or after battles in the loading screen! Now this happens far too often and when you reload it sometimes crashes in the Contuine Caimpaign screen. Rarely even in the campaign itself. No other mod has ever done that for me. The installation was problem-free. I have correctly installed the 4 GB patch for all exe files. In the game and in the mod folder. Administrator rights too. Have 4G Ram graphics card memory and 16G Ram system. Other mods run smoothly with a few exceptions. So finally, I would be happy if the worst error of all that I listed was fixed, namely the one in the loading screen before and after battles, you can live with the others, but it's just too time-consuming!
I tried to match the resolution for Campaign and Battle with that of my desktop, but it didn't help. I once had it with another mod. You can see from the length of my report how important it is to me to find a solution! Thank you for your work and your time!

All thanks to the modding team for this great mod :)
Your mod is great, I'm Peruvianm and I'm loving the music selection for the faction, I wish there where more cities and roads between north and south but already a good start to see that time depicted there. keep the good work!
