Stargate: Legacy started off as a conversion of the popular StargateTC to the source engine, but now is an independent mod using the latest Source engine technologies. For those who might not know, SGL, just like SGTC, is based on the popular TV show Stargate SG-1. There are currently two versions of Stargate Legacy, both of which are multiplayer only. Single player will not be started until we are satisfied we have reached a multiplayer release that requires minimal attention from the devs, allowing us to focus on other projects.

This month we haven't got too much to show you as development has slowed down due to the reasons above. Our resident handyman, FuriousFurling, has been doing a bit more work on his map Snowfall and he has managed to achieve something he's been working hard on for a long time which you will see later on. This is a couple of screenshots from Snowfall:

Now earlier I said that Furling has achieved something he's been trying to achieve for a long time now. This is something he's mainly been working on for the past month. A model of an old bench for the map Abandoned which he has textured and put in game. Now some may think 'that's easy, anyone could do that', you'd be wrong. The team think this is a great achievement as it is showing that you can develop skills in other fields if you have enough drive and commitment so well done there. Here's a screenshot of it in the modelling program:

Also Furious has done a little bit of work on our new TER model:

That's all for this month folks. Thanks for reading and hope you have a nice November.

Eww...flat snow.

Might I recommend bumping the snow a bit to give it a more realistic feel, and then adding some sort of decals or something neat to make the snow appear like its seeping over the side of the sidewalk?

Also, I'd think adding more snow precipitation would help.
I'd suggest using two layers, single snow and group snow, to make a close up detail snow and a distant flurry of snow for a better look.

Bench is pretty neat. However, I'd recommend at least flipping the UV so that the boards aren't perfectly aligned.

I'd also recommend swapping out the freeway lights for something more sidewalk oriented. Having those powerful lights for a sidewalk doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

Lastly, some snowy rocks would make it feel more in place. :)
(And some sort of more defined icicle decals for the roof edgings and small overhangs. If even a normal mapped 3D prop.)

Whew! Sorry that sounds like a rant. Good progress though.
I'd like to see more later on. ;)

Agreed. I think the map needs a little bit more detail. I believe the buildings need especially a bit more detail. Try creating some destruction debris and more detail outside. The main focus here is the buildings to me which im not seeing enough detail on.

Why not try encludeing a small plack on each bench for 1 dollar. or a written artical with donours name i.e. outback.Bench could be placed in games along trails to be viewded or city streets where spying takes place or where ever.Every one wants to see their name and their sons and daugheters Past family ect.
