ModDB seems to be having some issue with images at the moment, having got the same error with several team members trying. Sorry about the preview pic/anything else

Thought that too. Wonder how horrible would be to have both Disney and GW lawyers after you.

GW as in the Warhammer 40K publisher?

As in the Warhammer OWNER, yeah. They are pretty trigger happy and vicious with their lawyers. Mods combining their IP with anything else are HERESY® in their eyes due some "obscure laws on some countries" according to them.
PDF or planetary defense forces are part of their 40K ip and probably tried to trademark the acronym, the 3 words or even their individual letters if they could and claim they invented defense and force concepts and actually created the planet if they could.

I think it's too late, way too many properties use that term.

That have not deter them in the past when trying to copyright the terms Space Marine and elf/elves. Yeah they can get pretty nasty.

I'm fairly certain you can't copyright Titles, Names, Slogans, Short Phrases and the like, so I really doubt GW is coming after anyone on that. I should preface that with "you can trademark stuff like that, but only in a marketplace with a company or product name."

It seems these are more Judicials rather than PDF's. I'm understanding the current look of the PDF's will be retained as non-Republic-exclusive

Yeah, current PDF troopers are going to be used as infantry for independent forces and revolt spawns

A certain jedi general would probably use these troops.

Description

FotR's had PDF Troopers in a representative role for several versions. With .2 having assorted changes for independant and revolt options, and the start of militia stuff those have been expanded heavily but relegated to non-faction-specific options.

Hence, a Republic-exculsive option to replace where those stood in before. Nothing too fancy, with an appearence based on recurring text descriptions of republic-affiliated units, a feature article that depicted a pair of non-clone GAR personnel, and the judicial officer uniforms in TPM.
