What about rocket troops? Surely their rocket launchers would be able to target fighters?

I really like the air superiority idea. I hope any changes to the AI that you can make will make aerial combat an important facet of land battles.

Don't know if that is physically possible, but i really hope these will be like the bombers in vanilla EAW, i.e. not actual units you call as any other reinforcement, but rather an ability that spawns on the battlefield. Many mods had the ground fighters already, but a lot of time they just pointlessly fly around the map, occasionally attacking enemies (which is the reason i hate T-65s in the game).

I'm basically just adding more variety of ground star fighters and tweaking how they behave and how the AI uses them. You'll still be able to call in conventional bombing runs to lay waste to bases and clumps of enemies, but the ground fighters will be there to support main land armies.

Well, in that case i really hope you'll somehow redo the AI for these things, so that they wouldn't just clutter the view of the battle and spin in circles all the time.

Description

One goal I have with this mod is making land and space combat more tactical, as we all know at times, Vanilla FOC can feel like just a maze.

We got a small taste of areal battles in vanilla Forces of Corruption with the T-65 Air speeder and the Imperial Lancet, but I want to amplify it a bit. I want air superiority to be a crucial factor, and the difference between victory and defeat on the planetary battlefield.

Each faction will have light and heavy fighters available for ground deployment. These fighters will be able to harass ground infantry and, in cases such as the X-wing with it's proton torpedoes, destroy vehicles, making it a hassle for the player that doesn't have fighters of their own or surface to air capabilities. If you want your invasion to be successful, you'll have to control the skies as well as the land

Infantry and light vehicles will not be able to target aircraft at all and only certain heavy vehicles like the AT-AT for example, will be able to counter the threat from the skies.

This will also make taking out anti aircraft emplacements and vehicles a top priority for your ground troops and building Anti Aircraft defenses and vehicles will be desired when defending your base.
