G'day everyone!

It has been a long decade these past two years. Pandemic, lockdowns, general stress and uncertainty have been the rule.

One thing that has been keeping the team behind Continuum sane (more or less) has been tinkering with the mod. We've made a habit in the past of doing what was declared impossible through convoluted but hidden ways and thanks to the heroic efforts of Olmysen, Dark Sentinel, Major Stress and myself we have cooked up an impressive release for you this time!

Pretty much every single script in the mod has been rewritten and optimised, you can now reasonably expect a multiplayer game to work (even with all the new features). There's been so much added to the deathmatch options that I am not even sure what's new anymore! Not to mention the updates to the Invasion game mode originally from Homeworld @ and the Flight Mode technical demonstration, not to forget the ship gallery game mode!

One excellent thing to try is the new debugging tools (if you enable them in the game setup) and camera controls, you enable them with "Y" in game and you can see them on the left hand side of the screen.

Bajor

You can probably also see from the screenshot of Bajor above that the maps have received an amazing graphical overhaul, here's Alpha Centauri as well to demonstrate the improvement. It's subtle but the galaxy in the background is actually positioned to show as it would in the hypothetical locations of these maps!

Alpha Centauri

We have also taken the ultimate in impossible-to-do-in-homeworld things and made them done. Taking a leaf from the Star Trek: Armada flavour of play here are some screenshots of ships being visibly constructed for your pleasure

Starship construction

Starship construction

We have also redone the ship debris so that they persist for 200 seconds after a ship is destroyed, they "burn" up in an interesting reverse of the build visualisation and then despawn.

Wreckage

The mod more than quadrupled in size in the last three years, so it will be impossible to show everything that has changed here, but I have prepared some... samplers!

Hey I love this mod! I honestly do. My favorite part is the music...it is so beautiful to listen too and is era specific which I love! I know your busy with life but I just wanted to ask a couple questions and see if there are answers for it.

1. Are you still developing this mod? The reason I ask is because a lot of ships when you look at their description say "pending" and it would be great to know if that will be updated soon.

2. Are you planning on having an option to have a fully armed starbase as your starting HQ? My brother and I notice that the Outposts are really easy to destroy by just warping in...targeting it...and then warping out which takes the fun away from having to defend your base and having a long drawn out conflict. Even increasing the hull value doesn't seem to fix it. So if you could increase the hill value, add weapons to it or make starbases more defendable that would be perfect.

Thanks for reading this and I'm not critising anything about this mod...I love it I just wanted your thoughts.

Yes the mod is still in development! As a hobby it's not a quick thing though.

We're hoping to address the Outpost survivability with an update to the shields script that we're working on now. Keep an eye out for Steam updates :)

Is there a way to prevent the ships (usually for me it’s the post-TOS fleets that end up doing it) from ramming into each other? It makes the Combat devolve into ramming and then slow paced chases.

I played the mod and came across a bug with the terran empire \ federation tos.

if you don't exit the game and select tos death match if you play as federation or terran empire the textures are missing this may be do to the terran empire is slaved into the federation stock units.

with flag ship battles when you fight the Klingons or the romulans with the flag ship having a forever cloak with no rundown time you cant destroy the flagship unlike non cloaked races.

but with enterprise era will we see a teran empire or the other races like Vulcan andorian ect and the same for tos as solo races?

and as for tos would we be seeing the aries class

I have to say, I love this mod, and all the work you have put into this. So thank you for the great product. However the Borg are completely useless in this game. They are not a threat to anyone and are near impossible to take and do well with against the computer. They take FOREVER to build any sort of a force but not just that their ships are pretty weak considering how long it takes to get them. A fleet of 15-20 ships can take a cube down, but if you are playing as the Borg you’ll likely not get the opportunity to use a cube. I personally think the Borg should be OP. Make them Super hard to take down and super easy to use. Personally I’ll rarely play as them I just want them to be challenging. I want to fear the sight of them. Have to rally my forces to stand a chance against them. I have played against multiple expert cpu Borg players when I’ve taken the fed and I can handle them with ease. I’ve even let them build up for a really long time and let them initiate the battle. I can defeat their wave and push to eliminate all of them with a fraction of my fleet. I think you have the right idea of powerful late game, but it takes way too long to get them into the fight and they should be more powerful than they are. I wonder if anyone likes playing against them as they are now? I think the reception would be very positive if they were very difficult. Thanks for the hand work I really love the rest of the races. They are a lot of fun to play as and against. Please un-nerf the Borg.
