Star Trek: Armada III begins with the first stirrings of the Dominion War and allows players to take command of five unique factions, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union/Dominion Alliance, and the Borg Collective. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
"She was attacked by what appears to be essentially a robot, an automated weapon of immense size and power. Its apparent function is to smash planets to rubble and then digest the debris for fuel. It is, therefore, self-sustaining as long as there are planetary bodies for it to feed on."
"But why?"
"Bones, have you ever heard of a doomsday machine?"
"No. I'm a doctor, not a mechanic."
"It's a weapon built primarily as a bluff. It's never meant to be used. So strong, it could destroy both sides in a war. Something like the old H-Bomb was supposed to be. That's what I think this is. A doomsday machine that somebody used in a war uncounted years ago. They don't exist anymore, but the machine is still destroying."
If only they let it go on it's merry way into Borg space.
But then they run the risk of the borg assimilating it then the alpha quadrant would have much bigger problems in ship combat with them.
I doubt the Borg would have a chance to do so. They can't transport their drones on board because of the jamming field.
Plus the borg wouldn't use a planet killer.
Can't assimilate a planet if it is destroyed.
