It's actually a new Romulan capital ship class fighting a planet-sized USS Kitbash :D

Speaking of new ships (beautiful shot there, by the way), is that Promellian Battlecruiser you showcased on twitter going to make an appearance?

Every time a new screenshot appears I tell myself: "Don't click on it! It will only make you sad, since you can't play it yet."

You got me again... well played :x

Unless I'm mistaken, those are the Romulan fighters featured in Star Trek: Invasion.

Sexcellent...

Will this be replacing the Scorpion?

Maybe they are default fighters and later you upgrade them to Scorpions? or Scorpions are unique to Scimitar?

vOv My guess.

Maybe these are bombers?

the Javelin fighter is now the normal romulan fighter, the scorpion is exclusive to the scimitar, the old bomber is also being replaced

By 'replaced' do you mean the Kestrel is getting an updated model or will be mothballed in favour of a new ship entirely? As I recall the Romulans used two fighters in Invasion - the one shown here and another that was altogether more formidable and harder to destroy. :)

Kestral is getting relegated to flying around spacedocks.

Took ages, but I finally found an image of the tougher Romulan fighter from Invasion, the Predator!

Also, from the game's concept art, it would appear that the fighter featured in the image is called the Stalker:

Unfortunately both of these names are also being used for Klingon ships. No wonder they hate each other!

Oh gosh, agh!

More of ST:Invasion is leaking into this game and it's making my tiny bunny heart throb like a... well, like... a throbby thing!

:D

Just a thought though, you should really consider making some of the smaller ships (and fighters), description wise, be drone controlled. Since the Romulans seemingly have a thing for drones.

Heck, present day America has a thing for drones. Why would any future fighters even need a pilot?

I like the Mass Effect explanation - when two AIs are pitted against each other, the one with superior hardware will always win. An AI and human pilot working in tandem, however, provide a level of unpredictability that offers a definite advantage.

or you can use the SW explanation: Droids don't have creativit

Or everyone could just use the canon description based on the Earth/Romulan War. Many--if not all--Romulan ships were Drones.

I mean, meow?
