yeah delicate balancing act. If the ordinary ships are going to be able to challenge an elite then the costs should reflect that. I dunno about sticking to canon with this. Technically an Akira could kick an Ambassadors *** but that just wouldn't work cost vs effectiveness.

It would be hilarious to come out with a "Poor bloody Soldier" version of the mod where every unit is dirt cheap, only ships like the Sovereign, Scimitar, Galaxy, Negh'Var, and D'deridex can last for any amount of time. All other ships die in a blaze of glory in the first opening shots of the fleet battle.
Like DS9!

We're looking to make all ships competitive even until late game, with less reliance on cap ships and more on a balanced and well realised fleet. We're also aiming to make battles last just a little longer so you can really get the star trek epic battle feel you got in bridge commander.
It's a delicate thing we're trying to do, especially with regards to the cap ships but we'll endeavour to get it right :)

please dont make a Miranda able to beat an Akira for example. looking at the stats on the screenshot it seems like they are too close to each other. of course it doesnt Show armor/dmg differences so i'm just assuming

the miranda is in the frigate tier and the akira is a late game cruiser so the damage potential of each class is significantly different. The miranda would be blown out of the water.

also remember a miranda can be blown away with one torpedo by a galaxy class if its shields are down (see season 2 tng)

I don't think so. it was worked out and implemented quite quickly. just in the process of testing it to make sure the factions are still balanced.

oh ok koolio :D. I seen modds get delayed or killed by attempts at 'balanceing' so this is welcome news :)

Plz make the klingon bird of prey have firepower to rival cruisers but be quite fragile :D, that would def spice up the tactics like it did for SOA2. Send in your D7's to soak up damage and your BOP's rush in after and dps pummel the baddies, then if they get targeted they rush out again coz they are fast.

Also give the Borg cube 999999999999 hp! ty

and the Enterprise gets a 25% luck bonus :D

luck bonus? good lord *shakes head*. Why don't I include plot armour while I'm at it? :D brels are quite powerful firepower wise, when facing the enemy, but have nothing when moving away. The best bet is a massed attack with several of them.

haha yeah, and a redshirt debuff to Miranda's when in combat. Thats great news about the b'rels. Limited firing arcs is def spot on. Good hunters but vulnerable in fleet actions.

Well intrepid's must ofc have a massive shield buff against tactical cubes. That episode was so far fetched tbh. Voyager holds out for several minutes against an even harder version of a cube. She should of been vaporized in about 30 secs to 1 min max when you look at the borg attack on earth.

Description

Were currently in the process of a complete rebalancing of all the factions in the game. We felt that capital ships were dominating the battle-space and that just wasn't Star Trek. Were trying to make all ships relevant even in the late game so even a few Cruisers can take out a Capital ship. You are going to need a mix of all three ship types in order to win, as each ship will have at least one ability. Also battles will last a little longer so it gives you time to make better informed tactical decisions.
