Star Trek: Armada III begins with the first stirrings of the Dominion War and allows players to take command of five unique factions, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union/Dominion Alliance, and the Borg Collective. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
A quick preview of the new Ambassador model i am working on. I know quite a few fans wanted to see her be redone so here you go ;)
There she is, my beloved Ambassador class.
Looks a little more swept forward than the previous model.
Indeed it is. The Ambassador class underwent a refit sometime between the time of the Enterprise-C and TNG. The most noticeable aspects of the upgrade include the saucer being moved back a bit, the installation of an updated impulse engine and the upgraded nacelles.
I love the Ambassador, but I greatly prefer this, her original form.
I don't know - I like this one better
I've been waiting for you, Silverbreaker...

there wont by many fed models sourced from older games at this rate!
Ahh,and there's my second favorite starship behind the refit Connie. Can't wait to see it all spiffed up and finished...and kicking Cardie *** of course.
Question, since it's around the same time will the actual Enterprise C be a useable ship?
Hmmm. That's doubtful, though I'd love it to be so. There's something about the Enterprise-C's final mission that hits me right in the feels.
Max has told us that this expansion will be set between the Battle of Narendra III, where the Enterprise-C was destroyed, and the Battle of Wolf 359. The Galaxy class has been confirmed as a late-game advanced battleship with the Enterprise-D serving as a top-tier hero unit, so I doubt we'll see the Enterpise-C.
Though two Enterprises fighting side by side would be fairly epic.
Ahh I see, well that clears up my earlier confusion about the Connie refit then, that is pretty late era. When I originally saw "The Lost Years" I originally thought that included the era of the Enterprise B and just progress through that era through the research tiers.
Okay so if I understand correctly the Ambassador will be sort of the all around workhorse like the Connie used to be, the Galaxy is the up and coming ship...what the heck would fill the role of Titan? I don't recall the Feds having anything bigger than the Galaxy at that point, in fact I recall it being referred to as one of the largest and most ambitious projects of that time.
And to be honest I think this is the game I've always wanted. I like the TNG era, but I was never too fond of the Dominion war or how the battles played out and the paper thin shields/hulls. This right here seems right up my alley. The Borg are still an unknown threat in the shadows, the Romulans are the current big bad boogeyman everyone is concerned about and the Klingons have internal problems. IMO the best times of TNG.
I have a feeling you're going to love the dev team's plans for Axanar, Astartes. ;)
> I don't recall the Feds having anything bigger than the Galaxy
The Ark Royal-, Ulysses-, and Yamato-classes were the TMP era dreadnoughts in SFC. I've personally proposed the Ark Royal, since it was the original Space Control Ship before the Excalibur.
if its going to be about the cardasian/federation war, the introduction of the galaxy and a bunch of nebulas appear to be one of the major factors that put an end to it. the cardis had nothing that could stand up to them, the phoenix could blow away a galor with a torp spread outside the galor's weapon range. also by that time, the ambassador class would have had its tng refit too, it wouldn't be in its original config.
for the addon, if there are galaxys in play, thats a point in time that the conflict is basically over, better to set it in the mid 2350, were the phoenix subtype nebula would have just launched, it should be top fed ship. an off shoot of the galaxy development program, equipped with then on the shelf technology, and apparently arranged miranda style because that was more ideal in some way with the technology they had on hand then.
the nagara and the rest of those wolf ships should have launched about that time too, including new orleans with phaser hardpoints! we should be building them instead of intrepids, akiras and defiants.
We shall see. Max has told me that the Wolf 359 ships will feature in some way, possibly as buildable, fully equipped ships.
I don't know whether it's going to focus specifically on the Cardassian Border Wars themselves, or simply on the time period. That is, 2347 to the late 2350s. By the time TNG started open hostilities had ceased with only a few isolated skirmishes remaining. The official peace treaty was signed in 2367/2368.
Also, it's not clear exactly when the Ambassador received her refit. The Battle of Narendra III happened in 2344, more than a decade before the USS Galaxy was commissioned. The first refit Ambassador class we saw was the USS Zhukov in TNG Season 4, set in 2367. So there's a fairly wide margin of time in which the refit could have occurred.
oh yeah...finally. Thanks guys.
you've done the work of gods
