Great thing, I always loved vegetation in LA. This is how STALKER should look from the beggining.

That's one thing I noticed about the games and it always bothered me. Thing is, in the original Stalker games, I thought there wasn't enough. But then when I played Lost Alpha, I thought there was too much! This looks like the perfect balance I've been waiting for.

That's what we're aiming for :)

IMO the added vegetation in Lost Alpha is great, it looks very realistic - unlike the default CoP maps, which don't look realistic - too sparse. Some of the LA maps do have issues, but that's because of impractical (and unrealistic) design choices, e.g. the maze-like 100 Rads bar area, and Darkscape (backtracking through endless caves with the exit at the wrong side of the map, adding A LOT of unnecessary walking around) etc.

Well, for me it was more along the lines of being used to the bareness of vanilla SHoC then being surprised with how much flora there was in LA. Also, my computer isn't that powerful, so it hit me right in the FPS. I know it's not the devs' fault, but at the time it annoyed me. Though in general I'm not a fan of LA anyway, so I'm a bit biased in that regard.

I still have not seen better foliage (and general graphics) than Autumn Aurora... and it's SOC...

I just hope it won't add lag to it somehow... ^^;

Like I mentioned, flat replacement of the foliage (stage 1) should not affect performance. Additional foliage will likely have a small effect, but not too drastically.

Description

Something we've always wanted to do was increase the amount of vegetation and foliage in the Zone. Having been there myself, I know just how lush and green it is, especially in Pripyat.

Because of this, we're replacing one-for-one the vanilla, low-poly, poorly textured and just generally bad foliage models with Cromm Cruac's excellent ones, as featured in Lost Alpha.

Additionally (and as you can partly see in this image), we're adding new foliage to each level, bringing the world much more in line with the real-life Zone.
