Anomaly is a standalone S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod powered by an x64 version of the X-Ray engine. Starting with version 1.5.0 Anomaly uses a custom engine build called the XRay-Monolith engine. After almost one year of development of the Anomaly 1.5.0 update, the mod continues its way on expanding and adding new features while maintaining a high level of quality and replay value.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly version 1.4.0 is the first huge overhaul with new gameplay mechanics and many optimizations and bug fixes.

This update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly does NOT contain any previous updates, it requires update 1.3.3 to be installed already. Please read the detailed description for more information

Update 1.4.0 requires to start a new game.

It is not compatible with existing saves from earlier versions.

Overview

In an attempt to give the player the ability to choose the difficulty/economy that suits their own preferences, a new option under the name of (progression difficulty) has been added in the new game menu with three choices (stalker, scavenger, survivalist)
It affects over 14 aspects regarding the progression. All of them are controllable through the "extra options" menu for more customization.

Introducing the new crafting system. An alternative way to obtain equipment through your playthrough.
With a set of 5 different kits, the player has the ability to craft all kind of equipments.
Look for recipes, books and guides around. They provide a great source of knowledge regarding crafting.

With the improved encyclopedia, the player can unlock articles and info on discovery of all sort of things through their playthrough. Side notes and letters will be stored in a special category (Notes)

The item system received a lot of changes in addition to a new set of items. The player also has ability to gather, separate multi-use items.
The majority of items can be disassembled into basic materials as well. Usable for crafting and repairs.

The artefacts have been reworked from the ground in order to bring their usefulness back and group them in types and tiers, along with modifications to all items related to artefact handling.

New improved textures for scopes, sky and many others have been added in this update.

A lot of work has been done regarding optimization, stability, error and bug fixing.

Hi ! Any tweak, or advice, to avoid some major stuttering with lighting effects ? I'd like to reverse (if possible) some FX (campfires, for example)

Try DX9 settings
Turning off Sun Shadows will give you a good boost as well

Hi, thanks for another release. A few problems I've found so far:

Going boar hunting with Fanatic results in Fanatic chasing some invisible enemy. He keeps running around, constantly firing at thin air. If Fanatic does not run off chasing some ghost, he will get into a firefight with the nearby bandits. This is making an already tricky opener ever trickier.

The animal loot menu has the options listed as their internal ui_mm_whatever names.

What do you run now?

CPU's wise I'd say any 3rd+ gen Intel Core architecture and AMD Ryzen architecture.
A note though: Anomaly's 1.6 X-ray engine, although 64 bit, is not (actually) multithreaded.
So CPU's with a strong single threaded performance will perform the best. Even older CPU's will still do well, like Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge.

My system for example is an old s775 + overclocked Intel Xeon X5460, 8Gb ram and an AMD 270x.
With back to the rootz texture pack (reduced textures) it runs almost at full settings and only lags heavy scripted area's.

Yes, full a-life enabled, but still playing on 1.3.3.
Recently moved Stalker to SSD and that helps a lot! Even on this old s775 machine.

I was asking, because on an X4 860K (on SSD) without full A-life, I get a lot of stuttering (sometimes even 5-6 seconds) when moving around, probably, because stalkers coming online, but I will try with full A-Life, maybe it helps...

Full A-life puts more strain on the system though. Where do the stutters happen? I had a lot of issues around some anomalies (5-6 seconds fps drops), it had to do with the shadow map setting (adding -smap1536 in the shortcut fixed it).

Not knowing how much computer tech skills you have. Have you overclocked your X4 yet?
If not, and if you have an old mid/high end mobo + reasonable cooling, I'd recommend investigating it.
Also the OS side (I'm still on W7) optimize it. Disable startup programs & services you do not need, moving your page file to another disk helps.

According to the logs in the console, I think it happens, when squads/stalkers do come online, but I'm not sure, e.g. it happens in the swamp several times on the way from the hidden base towards the church (the worst is near the fishing hamlet).

Thanks for the shadow map hint, will try that as well!

Dear developer! Tell me please, why does the performance drop so much at the location “Jupiter Neighborhood and Backwater”? Frames fall from 60 to 5. P.S.At other locations, everything is fine.

Regarding the sound problems some people are having, I believe this is related to the HRTF setting you have in the alsoft.ini file.

HRTF is meant only for people using stereo headphones to emulate positional audio, but you have it set to always be enabled.

If a person is using a 5.1 speaker set-up (for example) then HRTF being enabled causes strange audio issues like crackling, pops, weird positioning, looping etc.

If you are using anything other than headphones to play Anomaly then the following lines:

hrtf = true

should be:

hrtf = false

I have a full surround speaker system and so HRTF is uselss to me and only causes audio glitches.
