Hello,

After talking to the barkeeper as loner in rostock i got tasked to go to the guy at barier but the quest immedietaly fails after picking up, is there any workoround or spawn command, i suspect that the NPC might be killed, i did not find them near the barrier.i did a few quests for freedom, including defending the barrier from monolith, i guess he might be dead after that.

Anyone can help ?

Launch the game in debug mode and load a save before talking to Barkeep or Asian. You will have to go to Army Warehouse and see If you can find Gatekeepers corpse at the Barrier, if you find it then target the corpse and remove it using F7 then Delete. If there is no corpse then see the Edit below.

Stand near the location where Gatekeeper usually is (At the hill camp overlooking the Barrier) and press F7 then Object Spawner. Type stalker_gatekeeper in Spawn by Section and tick the Spawn at player, then click Spawn.

Target Gatekeeper before he wanders off and press F7, then Logic/Execute: Type the following in each field then click Set Logic.

Active Section = beh@stalker_gatekeeper
Active Logic = logic@stalker_gatekeeper
INI Filename = scripts\military\stalker_gatekeeper.ltx

Save and reload to get him back to his original state.

EDIT: It appears that the corpse of Gatekeeper will despawn and the info portion that he is dead will be added to your save.

When you have spawned a new Gatekeeper and set his logic, use the Function executor at the bottom and type the following with no spaces and click execute:

db.actor:disable_info_portion("stalker_gatekeeper_dead")

Then go to Barkeep or Asian and Call from the North will update.

Same problem, but i struggle to get this works. Is Gatekeeper necessary? I mean, I can always go to yantar without him and with psy helmet disable both Miracle machine and Brain scorcher. After that, can I go further without having spoken to him? If so, I can skip the whole "respawn Gatekeeper" and go on, other way, the only solution would be to restart and disable offline combat.
So, what's the answer: Gatekeeper essential or skippable? Thanks in advance.

Gatekeeper is already set as invulnerable, how he dies in your playthrough is a mystery to me; he has never died in any of mine. I only supplied a solution, it would be something the devs would have to find a permanent fix to avoid this. For example, only spawn Gatekeeper when you speak to Barman or Asian, that would reduce the chance of him being killed.

im having this same bug however i cant find gatekeepers body and when i spawn a new gatekeeper in and do everything you said it still fails the quest.

Its probably the old gatekeeper, dead quest/important NPC bodies are persistent and never despawn.

Can you post the debug log before you spawn a new gatekeeper in Army Warehouse, preferably a pastebin link. If the old gatekeepers body is in Army Warehouse, it will show up in the debug log, then you can use the ID number to remove the body using the 'release ID' console command.

A debug log is generated when you have debug mode active, it uses the same name and saved to the same location as a normal log, in your anomaly\appdata\logs\ folder.

I went into the game before I made the gate keeper spawn in, while in debug mode. I left the game and then copy in pasted the log from the anamoly appdata folder. Just so you know I am using the Escape From Pripyat modpack.

Damn I hate mods that spam the log with useless information. Well I can't find Gatekeeper in the log, either the body has despawned; which it shouldn't or it hasn't loaded because its located on the edge of the map. Did you go to the Barrier in that session? I'm wondering if he went beyond the level changer to Radar.

So there is obviously no body and its depawned, this seriously needs fixing.

When you spawn a new Gatekeeper and set his logic, use the Function executor at the bottom and type the following with no spaces and click execute:

db.actor:disable_info_portion("stalker_gatekeeper_dead")

Then go to Barkeep or Asian and see if Call from the North updates. If it still crashes then I have no other ideas.

acemax, you are an absolute lifesaver and genius. The quest has updated instead of automatically failing. Thank you for the help. This needs to be highlighted as a possible solution for other people that have this problem.

So, this happened to me too, i played this quest a lot of times and this is the first time, i was clear sky, i don't know if that has anything to do with it, but, thanks Acemax for the fix it worked. Stalker mods can be very buggy sadly.

AceMax Thank you soooo much you are a legend that saved twice my campaign , we are talking about hundreds of hours of gameplay in this playthrough using Escape from Pripyat mod.

I had the issue with Call of the north being automatically failed then i fixed it using your trick then I had the issue again after turning off the Brainscorcher ( then the quest tells you that the gatekeeper may know where Strelok went, but he is dead again so it is broken) . I fixed it using the same method you kindly shared

Honestly this should be a sticky, it is the only thread that addresses this issue on the internet and I am sure many people may have had the issue. In my case it is probably because i use a mod that allows me to have 4000+ stalker population, not sure if it is that but anyways, thank you so much for your help, all the best.

Following this up, I also have a problem with this quest. After exiting X16, I noticed that I also did not have the quest for gatekeeper. It seems, that I did not notice, that the quest failed and am now many hours in, after the quest had failed.

Is there any way to start a quest manually using the console? I managed to spawn a new gatekeeper and make him behave correctly, but I just cannot find enough info, on how to start a quest using console. I found this thread that describes finshing a quest that way, but thats about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Solved! Start quest with Beard using task_manager.get_task_manager():give_task("lttz_ll_visit_beard"). Beard then shoes no dialouge for the quest, so you will have to finish that aswell with task_manager.get_task_manager():set_task_completed("lttz_ll_visit_beard"). You'll get the quest to visit Rouge, but we have to spawn him in first, using the methods described in this thread. Then finsih that quest with task_manager.get_task_manager():set_task_completed("lttz_ll_meet_rogue"). Then youll get the mission for getting the gauss rifle and from that point on all should work as normal.

How were you able to locate the task id? I am having trouble with the Call from the North task, but can't find a task name to put in the command.

EDIT: So I got it working I think. I found the name of this quest (lttz_ll_call_north) and while targeting to select barkeep, I entered the same commands you outlined, but with my quest ID in place of it. Worked perfectly. Thanks for the help everyone!

I have different problem. I play Merc campaign. I haven't Gatekeeper. I haven't Gatekeeper when I start new game as Merc too. Anyway I tried Your problem solution, but my game crash every time when I target spawned Gatekeeper and use Logic/Execute. So I can't do anything... Can You help?

Maybe it will be important -> I play Stalker EFP. But lets try any problem solution.

Just want to say thank you for your services, Acemax. In two consecutive campaigns of mine, Gatekeeper just refused to show up, like he never even spawned, and I used your commands to fix him twice, both times with great results. So thanks!

Hello, what Shoul I do, when I accidentaly killed the gatekeeper. played for 5 hours, went to barkeep and did the hideout quest. while oversaving the game. So I dont have any saves available, before going to barkeep and failing the call of the north... Am I really done? Or is there a hope for me.
