How to unlock UNISG? Thread - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

I've been playing this on and off for the past month and I've eventually finished the two main storylines "Living Legend" and "Mortal Sin", as a Free Stalker.

Now I have no idea how to start the storyline that unlocks UNISG. If it's even available to Loners, how do I begin? I finished Mortal Sin by reporting back to Sidorovich and now I'm just sitting at the Cordon rookie village after talking to my "fan", and there's not really much else to do.

There's a mission tagged as "main mission" but it's just a seemingly endless string of fetch quests for notable characters. Once it ended up being an unspecified quest to get a random mutant part from a psysucker, I just stopped doing these altogether and went with the Living Legend storyline up until now.

Please don't tell me I have to keep doing these "main mission" fetch quests :c

Some spoilers (but you asked...so...)

The main mission fetch quests eventually do end - the last one sends you to the wish granter (disappears when you get there, you don't have to use it)

The UNISG quest is a pretty good one actually (but really tough and challenging since your only allies are the mercs), but you need to finish operation afterglow to unlock it, and then start a new game as UNISG.

To kick off operation afterglow, you need to have completed the Mortal Sin questline and then talk to Sidorovich in the Cordon. He'll give you a quest to knock off SIN remnants and after I went back to him after completing this he'll mention a radio signal to pick up in Zaton. That's when operation afterglow will kick off.

(by this point of the game you should have enough cash for all the guides you're going to want to be using to go up the zone and back)

Thanks! Good to know. I was wondering that was just a regular sidequest. I'll do that ASAP then.

And hopefully I'll find a psysucker soon to continue that fetch questline.
