Ecologist Scanner Mission Bug? | Locked | |

I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or me just missing something entirely. With Hermann's missions from Jupiter I cannot seem to place the scanners correctly. I have tried manually placing them from the inventry by right clicking, and also crawling around the anomaly near the marker (and even further afield) to find an interaction point. Neither do anything useful. If I manually place the scanner, the mission does not update and my only option is to fail the mission with Hermann. So am I missing something? Is this a bug in non-story mode? Any help appreciated! |

There isn't a bug that I know of, its just sometimes difficult to place the scanner on the marker of some anomalies. When you are in the center of the marker, open inventory and right click to place the scanner and you should get a notification. |

Acemax wrote: Yeah tried that. Picked it up and placed it a dozen times - then chose to fail the quest... then came back later - so I had two scanners. Same thing. Even crawled around slowly in prone position. I guess its a minor bug / glitch then. May give it another go. I have a couple of screenshots, but cant seem to locate them on my drive (in case thats of any help). Edited by: Cyrus_Crashtest |

Screenshots are saved to the Anomaly Appdata folder. Which Anomaly zone was the scanner task for? The task does choose from all the anomaly zones in Jupiter and Zaton, if your game isn't modded I could take a look from your save file. |

Shot in the dark, but it might be the quest that gives you a scanner you can equip to your detector slot. If so, you need to equip it, take it out, and stand on the task marker until the bar on the scanner fills up. |

You are quite right, I confused the task with the deployable Scanner task given by Sakharov. |

Edit: I'll grab another screenshot in daylight, but you should be able to see the scanner type. longershanks wrote: Theres no right click option to "move to slot" sadly. Okay, heres some more screens to clear up any confusion. Edited by: Cyrus_Crashtest |

Ok so it is the deployable scanner, the first screenshot shows 2 scanners already placed? I didn't think they were persistent once the task is complete, this could be the cause of the problem but I will have to check the script. |

As far as I can tell from the script there is no function to remove a previously placed scanner and if you fail the task there is no function to remove the scanner from your inventory, so yes it would seem to be a bug. A possible solution would be to use debug mode to complete the task and then remove the scanners from the game. start the game in debug mode and load your save, escape to main menu and open Debug Menu F7, then press 0 (Zero, not numpad), in Function Executor at the bottom type the following task_manager.get_task_manager():set_task_completed("jup_b6_scientist_nuclear_physicist_task_1") The task should be flagged as complete, now collect the scanners, right click them and click release to destroy them. Hopefully this will reset the task and if you feel brave enough, try again Edited by: Acemax |

Well the command bit worked, but I cant "release" the scanners, only place them. Mission is complete at least. Took another scanner mission and this time it worked. But... still had the other two scanners so left them there too. On returning afterr handing in the mission... still there! |

Yeah same thing happened to me, the only way to get rid of those scanners is to target each one and use debug mode F7, then click delete to remove them from the game. If one of the scanners won't delete, pick it up and place it again, I think its the one that is bugged. When doing this task, I think its best to leave the scanner where you placed it after the task completes, don't pick it up again. |

Acemax wrote: Aye but thats the thing, the two spares are from the task that i had to fail, and the one that wouldnt complete until you gave me the command line thing. Still, I'm suffering no additional instability etc. |

Just want to chime to say I had the same issue. Same quest at the same anomaly. Acemax thank you for the command it fixed it for me. I did have issues deleting the sensor thing after I was done. It took me 6 tries of placing it down and picking it up before the delete command worked. Only issue I've had with anomaly so far, which is great! Really minor overall. I do have a few mods installed so I'm not sure if any of them contributed to the bug. |
