Anomaly is a standalone S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod powered by an x64 version of the X-Ray engine. Starting with version 1.5.0 Anomaly uses a custom engine build called the XRay-Monolith engine. After almost one year of development of the Anomaly 1.5.0 update, the mod continues its way on expanding and adding new features while maintaining a high level of quality and replay value.
This mod was made to add depth to ambient sounds, more particularly on storm sounds which I always thought sounded unnatural. Adds 47 new stereo samples and adds a different cycle over time and distance.
You may be familiar with my work already. Now I thought this was time to finish what I started on Misery with thunder/storm sounds and make it even better.
My storm sounds addon, completely custom, allows you to have a better immersion when Zeus himself releases his angriness over the Zone.
Useful informations can be found inside the archive folder and I strongly suggest that you read if you want to tweak things even more to your liking.
EVEN BETTER WHEN USED WITH SOUNDSCAPE OVERHAUL 2.5 !!
Pretty straight forward, drop the gamedata inside your game folder, or replace the gamedata you already have. Two versions exist, one for vanilla and the other one compatible with soundscape overhaul 2.5. Install SO2 first if you want to use this version and overwrite with my files with the correct version !
Some graphic showing how the sounds "cycle" over time and what are the changes in terms of distance : as you can see it will be pretty rare and unlikely to hear very close sounds, so if you want to hear more of them : make some customized presets or edit the already existing ones !
Create new additionnal storm presets within the cycle. Check if sections can be changed and different start and end time than a fixed hour (like making 0 AM to 0:45 AM then the next one from 0:45 to 1:30 AM...etc
Check if within the SAME time period we can attribute different bolt period time for different distanced sounds.
Check how to make distant sounds not to display 3d models that look "close"
Change every weather sound with stereo samples (basically make my own SO2) but very time consuming...
Note : merge it with your gamedata and overwrite files.
V4.01 : New preset created using w_storm2.ltx and changing collections to have only mixes of medium, close or very close sounds (mostly makes close & very close especially more present :) )
