Hey in OGSE there are several Russian pop tunes played at the Army Warehouses and at the Bar near the dead city - I'm really interested in finding out the names of those tunes and the groups performing them - especially the accordion music in the dead city bar - can anyone help please?

Much of the music that is heard in this game is from a Russian mythical group of the 90s, I tell you the name of the group (KINO) and the leader and composer of all of them Viktor Tchoi, the story of him and his legend I let you discover your research on the internet. On youtube you have all the songs even with English subtitles, they are very beautiful lyrics

Thank you for replying! :-) Yes I managed to work out that Kino and Viktor Tchoi do some of that music and I enjoy their work very much (thumbs up). Other music from the game that I really love is a couple of quite traditional sounding songs with accordion music - played on the radio in the Bar at Dead City (OGSE) - the lyrics in one of them sound to be something like "Kolly wolly var annoye" - does that sound at all familiar? And may I ask - are you in Russia or Ukraine? I'm in Australia. I can maybe organise putting that song up on dropbox or something similar.

No, I am not Russian or Ukrainian, I am from Madrid, Spain, but do my research, since I liked the music I heard in the game. I can tell more about the history of this mythical group and about the unfortunate death in accident of its singer, composer who played rhythmic guitar. It has some inspiring songs that relax me a lot. On the game's pda, maybe you can find some of the songs you are looking for. In addition there are some addons, which has more KINO music. If I can help you with something or recommend YouTube links so that you can get a song, I will be delighted. Sorry for not seeing your question sooner.

Thanks again - I've also found lots of Kino / Victor Tchoi stuff online so am all good with that too :-) I hadn't thought of checking the PDA ingame to see what info was there - I'll try that next. I asked about whether you were from Russia or Ukraine only becuase I'm curious about the heavy references to WW2 themes in the Stalker Series - as well as the Metro games and wonder if there's actually that much of a psyche carryover in average Russians / Ukrainians from the war or if it's just a bit of a nerdy thing from the game devs themselves.

More than references to the Second World War, KINO's lyrics called for more freedom at the end of the Soviet era, and talked about the war in Afghanistan (at the time of KINO's music the Russians were in the middle of the invasion of Afghanistan). I personally have traveled to Odessa and Yalta Ukrainian cities, they only coincide with the Russians in the language, they are not very interested in the Russians, that impression gives. On the PDA there is a "playlist" in the Music tab, in which there are a large part of the game's themes. I like to share information with someone who is interested and who is so far away. I was in Dead City to try to listen to the song you were asking about, but I couldn't hear it (the accordion one)

Haha - yep I know what you mean about that style being for young people - the original is best IMO - altho - these days I'm right into ElectroSwing - ie. Caravan Palace (Lone Digger), Jamie Berry (Delight, Lost In The Rhythm), Swing Republic (Fall) etc. It was JSM doing a tv advertisment for Deka (bank or investment firm? - google "JSM Deka Spot").

I went into OGSE 0693 and to the Dead City Bar and found that song on the radio (turning off and on until it came up) - and realised that it actually starts with guitar! - sorry!! - it starts with guitar strumming for several bars then the beat and accordion and singing starts. Phonetic phrases from it are "Shashka yo minya" and "Kolly-wolly var a-noye". If I could at least figure out the name of the group I could have a starting point.

If you have the unpacked gamedata for OGSE 0693, that tune is bar_music_13.ogg in gamedata/sounds/characters_voice/scenario/bar/radio_music. bar_music_8.ogg is another one I really like and would like to figure out who performs it.

Tsoi and Letov in the heart! I love ГРОБ (Гражданская Оборона) so much, in Russia it is one of the favorite group among punks and its inhabitants themselves. (Sry for my English)
