You paid for the vice, you either got or paid for the tools to dismantle your parts, your stuff's too busted to repair with the toolkits anyways, so you are going to get to put those parts, IN YOUR DAMN GUN.
Comes with three versions now: Repairs, Upgrades, & Both
Installation: Put the relevant gamedata folder in your main STALKER install directory. Even if a gamedata folder already exists. The addon is a single file in [install]/gamedata/scripts
Alternatively, if you use JSGME, put the folders in your MODS folder, and then activate the one you want.
A hacky fix for Naxza's No Toolkit Requirement mod. It SHOULD work but, it might still crash under certain conditions I've not tested yet. If it does crash, please comment right away.
Well hey, what's the point of those repair kits then if you don't need them for the vice?
Good question, but to me their existence is justified by the relative ease; You don't need parts to use 'em, you can just repair items flat out without expending anything other than a charge. Not all the parts you'll get will be in pristine condition anyways, so it's still really nice to have something you can just bump their condition up with.
Side note: Pairs great with Grok's Craft & Repair Overhaul

With my add-on this might speed up the progression a bit too much xD . At least people have the choice now, and it's still slower and funnier than getting prestine items from dead stalkers :) ! A softer alternative is to hunt these kits in stashes with my Stash Overhaul.
Thanks for the add-on !
finally
I love you, was trying to do this myself but you just saved me all the effort.
Sometimes I feel like caving in and installing this addon because the amount of item upkeep you can do in Anomaly is ridiculous, but i'm hanging in there. I can totally understand why a lot of people would love this addon
Thanks!
I was feeling the same way, but eventually I got a little sick of the idea that you need an entire toolkit to do the reverse of something you did to get the replacement parts in the first place [taking a gun apart].
That, and I noticed that I was just bruteforcing it to the mechanics anyways since it was SO much of a hassle to do my own repairs. Now I find I actually repair my own guns sometimes, although that is rather rare considering I don't get high quality parts very often.
Downloading this now ...
So, if I don't have a replacement part, toolkit charge is used to fix old one,
but if i do have a replacement part, toolkit is not needed because charge is not used ?
(that would be perfect solution imo).
or is it something else ?
Basically; If you have replacement parts on you, and access to a vice in the first place, you do NOT need a toolkit to replace parts.
You still need them, however, to put in your own upgrades, and they still stand to be useful as flat %+ repairs like any other repair item.
Dear Dusty,
do you think that you could write a version of your mod that makes upgrading your weapon possible without consuming your weapon repair kit? I would love that kind of mod...
Done!
Что делает этот мод, можно подробней объяснить?
Normally, to repair a weapon with spare parts, you have to not only get the parts in the first place, pay for the technician's vice to work on, but ALSO have a relevant repair kit. This all despite you having the tools to take the parts from other guns/outfits in the first place. This mod removes the repair kit requirement, so you still need the spare parts and you still need the bench, but as long as you have the parts you can do a repair.
Cheap, Google translated version:
Hey bro, can we have a version with *no toolkits for repairs AND crafting*? Ive got alot of recipes drops, BUT after clearing kordon, garbage and swamps ive got medicine toolkits and ammo toolkits and ZERO basic toolkits. Crafting is most essential early game, since late game you are swimming in money and can just buy ****. I think its goes well with your addon logic - you pay for vice, you dont need toolkits for crafting
Would be cool if it was obtaining all 3 toolkits for the mechanic that allowed you to freely repair weapons without a repair kit, whereas without a toolkit(s) you need standard "<weapon> repair kit" as usual. This way there is still an incentive to find and give the toolkits to the mechanic of your choice. This is what I actually thought the game was gonna do and found I still had to use repair kits when my mechanic had all 3 toolkits... what the hell lol...THIS IS WHAT I GET???
Or you could make it where obtaining Basic tools allows you to swap parts and repair a weapon to 70, Advanced tools to 80 and Expert tools to 100 or something like that, so there's still an incentive to get all 3 to the mechanic whilst you are still rewarded for getting the single toolkits along the way.
Hey, thanks for doing this in my place! Sorry the original got crashy, I'll be sure to kick the tires on this one to see if anything weird bubbles up.

Would it be possible to create a version where the toolkits are required, but have unlimited charges?
To me requiring the toolkits make sense, so if you want to start being able to repair shotguns you need to invest in the set of tools required to work on them, but once you've made that initial 20-30k investment, you can now start saving money by doing your own repairs and upgrades. But if you want to start doing the same thing for pistols or rifles, or armor, etc you need to invest into separate sets of tools. I would even be in favor of increasing the toolkit prices slightly to offset this, but overall I think it would make more sense
This feels like it'd be a good alternative.

Hey, Dusty9261, I just deleted a comment with a supposed crash caused by your addon. It was a mistake, as I experienced the same crash without your addon.
Just writing to make sure you don't worry unnecessarily. As far as I know, your addon works fine!
Very good, thanks. It works normally with BaS and work tool addon. it would be nice to create an addon to remove all parts from weapons without disappearing it,and also replacing them by dragging the part onto the weapon icon
Required mod that helps make Anomaly playable
crashes at rostok technician for me
Whats ridiculous is the durability of guns in this game, firearms last multiple human lifetimes, most guns like AK's and Ar's don't even need tools to disassemble unless your are replacing a barrel or receiver. Guns can go through 1000's of rounds just with simple cleaning and not lose any durability in real life, so I think a lot of repair mechanics are stupid in stalker, I always use mods like this to make things more realistic. Ive owned guns since I was 15 to include a multitude of different types of mil-stye sporting rifles, so I know.
version repair + upgrade, there work only the repair. upgrade needs toolkits.
for anyone that has already installed a mod that uses the ui_workshop.script, you'll get conflicts. have no fear though. install notepad++, install the "Compare" plugin with plugins admin under "Plugins" menu.
Open this mod's script (directly from the rar if you can, so you can track which is which easily). Open existing script under gamedata.
Select first script. Click Plugins->Compare->Set First compare.
Select second script. Click Plugins->Compare->Compare
Now you'll have 2 windos with this mod's script on the left and existing script on the right, with highlighted differences.
These should be trivial to change so they look like in this mod's script.
basically whatever has toolkit in it should be changed. Obligatory, make a backup...
btw thx to the author, I went looking for a mod like this as soon as I saw I couldn't just replace parts in a bizon I found with scavenged parts from dozens of 9mm SMGs.
It's a pity the no toolkits for upgrade does not work anymore.

BE CAREFUL. This addon (Craft from Stashes) (https://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-anomaly/addons/craft-from-stashes) breaks your Workbench. And toolkits now be required!!!
Addon sadly no longer works. Would be sweet if someone updated for 1.5.2. working on guns without a mod like this is painfully tedious, unrealistic, and unimmersive
