Lore-friendly rework, rebalance, and expansion of the weapons and items available in the New Game Loadout window. Compatible with any game version.
v1.4
NEW GAME LOADOUTS+
TL;DR The goal of this addon is to give the player more options for new game loadouts, with story, free-play, warfare, and iron man modes in mind. NOT friendly with the Invictus achievement. README has info about manually patching this to be compatible with BaS, it's not very hard if you have both new_game_loadouts.ltx files, just copy-pasting lines and adding the BaS weapon sections.
Feedback is welcome but if I get complaints that it makes the game too easy because you have the option to start with a nice weapon, I will recommend uninstalling the addon or using a PM, since forcing difficulty is not my goal. On the other hand, if I get specific feedback like "this weapon seems underpriced", I will be more likely to consider addressing it in an update, since meaningful choices ARE my goal.
FACTION CHOICE
The faction and equipment that the player picks should have a noticeable impact on the possibilities of the first in-game week. Factions have different strengths and are generally geared towards the playstyle that the faction embodies.
LONERS, CLEAR SKY and FREEDOM have a little bit of everything: decent equipment, decent tech, decent firepower.
MILITARY and DUTY field simple, clean-cut grunt loadouts. Well-suited for straightforward missions like mutant hunts and assaults on stalker camps before retiring back to base.
MERCS and MONOLITH live up to their reputation as dangerously well-armed killers, with access to a wide variety of starting weapons and equipment.
ECOLOGISTS are a notable outlier, with immediate access to a Svarog detector for enthusiastic artefact hunters, and a suite of high-tier meds at a discount.
BANDIT and RENEGADES are roughly armed with scant provisions, and are best served by finding some hapless stalkers and taking their things by force.
Highly-organized/Paramilitary factions start with PDA 2.0, this is by design. PDA 1.0 is cheap at traders if you don't like it, maybe I'll make it an option in the next version.
POINT PRICES
Almost all point prices are completely rebalanced to more accurately reflect the practical value of items. Most notably, food and drinks have their point costs roughly tied to both calories and radiation removal, and healing items are logically priced based on their effects and intensity.
All factions start with 5000 rubles, and excess points (up to 1000) can be traded in for rubles, by buying the "Stack of Soviet rubles" items. 'Large Stack'=1000-5000, 'Stack'=900-1000, 'Small Stack'=400-500. Tooltips are less specific to be more consistent with vanilla and for flavor, but are somewhat accurate and coincidentally also applied to the money you loot off of stalkers.
HOBO OR HOBON'T?
Even on Survivalist, starting with a PM and 2 bandages to your name is completely optional. With the idea the player should have parity with an AI rookie stalker, any faction has access to a selection of 9 cheap 'surplus' weapons, with additional choices of more expensive, generally nicer faction weapons.
Faction weapons are usually at least twice as expensive as their surplus counterparts, with quality to justify the price. Every weapon is available on every Progression Difficulty, and although most high-end faction weapons are a bargain compared to buying them from traders, on Survivalist you will have to sacrifice most other options to pick them.
To "balance" this, a CBT enthusiast can start with little else but a PDA and novice armor if one so chooses. I'm not the Difficulty Police, so do what you want. Throw it all on the ground, see if I care.

Wow thank you for your addons!
Thank you for your comment!
will this work with RC23 ?
Yes
it only modifies 3 files in simple ways, so should be compatible with any version, but it was created on and for RC23+
Edit: fully works with 1.5.1 as expected
I was testing this addon yesterday, and now it's here. Good job man!
I miss the SVT-40...
SVT! Will end up putting it back in, there's a few weapons like that which got lost in the shuffle, thanks
It's back in as of v1.2 :)
Should be the Mosin
Really cool addon. Best loadout mod I have seen. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Please let me know any issues you find
thank you i have another problem the gun folder also has no m16a4 where can i find it
All guns (and guns with sights attached) are defined as sections in their parent LTX file, which are able to be unpacked for editing by using the "db_unpacker" in Anomaly 'Tools' folder.
I think that [wpn_m16a2] is the only m16a variant though. (womp womp I was wrong)
in the game there's the m16a2 (carry handle sight only) and the m16a4 (you can attach most western sights to his one)
thank you So fps drops in npcler conflict, does it have its setting?
got it, somehow missed that one, thanks
Pretty sure there was also A1 and A3 there in U4H8, what happened to those?
Thanks for the addon. I like the variety. :)
Thank you for checking it out!
how to I merge it with B&S? I don't mind it very much but would like to use your loadouts with their items
If you look in debug mode or the files of BaS, each weapon will have a 'section name' (not file name: there are multiple sections per file) that defines each variant, in vanilla these are like "wpn_ak74u", "wpn_ak74u_old", etc. . .
This section name needs to be added to the shared list or whichever faction you want to have it, and flagged with some info, for example: "wpn_ak74_bas = true,1,500" where 500 is the price. More info on the syntax etc. is in the new_game_loadouts.ltx file itself. :)
thanks man
Hello. I've been testing out the starting gear quite a bit. I noticed that the "Small Survival Kit" is 1000 points if you start with Freedom, and 800 points with Monolith. which I believe makes it one of the most expensive starting pieces of gear that isn't a high powered weapon. Is this intentional? That seems pretty expensive for a single use medical item. Comparing it to the "Army Medical Package" which are 600 points and give an abundance of different type of meds with varying different uses.
In terms of overall value, I could sell everything in a "Army Medical Package" to a medic and make way more money than I could selling the Survival Kit. Maybe I am not the value of the Survival Kit though.
Definitely too expensive, excellent feedback, thanks!
Intent was a get-out-of-jail-free card, that wasn't a must-take item on tourist/scavenger, but wasn't sure how it would wind up at a lower price so I just made it very high and forgot about it lol. Gating by faction is probably enough, though, since I figure that Loner Survivalist is where most of the 'hardcore' balance should be. Probably will make it in the 250-500 range to be more in line with the blue and yellow medkits: it is single use, but the effect is still very powerful if you make good use of it. Comparing it to the med packages is good thinking.
Thanks again, gonna put out a small update with this and a few other tweaks soon. Any other things like that feel free to let me know, I really appreciate it.
Sure thing. Thanks again for the addon!
No more $$$ lost from boar pelts because of no hunting knife . It made my hard/survivalist playthrough slightly more bearable ... IMHO a must have mod!
Makes starting as northern factions a lot more bearable as well lol, glad you enjoy and thank you! Tried to give all factions something interesting to do besides just go kill people.
thanks for the lovely mod moomintroll
Love the "Readme"
5000 rubles seems a bit much for starting out. How can I reset it to 1000ru? (love me that hobo-phase :P)
Please, make a patch for BaS!

Is there a way to uninstall it or change the amount of starting cash? :D
Hello there, I just made a addon for this addon, that actually adds magazines on new games loadouts, here it is: Moddb.com
Any idea of this is compatible with Arszi's Radiation Overhaul? It mentions that it's not compatible with mods that alter starting loadouts.
EDIT: I made a little patch by changing the loadout files to match with the Radiation Overhaul, lemme know if you would like it.
send it here please
Mega.nz
Here you are, just copy and paste into your install.
I wanted to ask if I installed it correctly - Bandits starts with 2000 points and can buy Ak 47 with this addon?
you better think hard about that B&S patch, boy.
Nice addon, thanks brotha.
I hope for that possible patch for BaS. This mod will be perfect!
does this addon work on 1.5.2?
