This is a ReShade preset. It gives you the look as if you would play or see the game though an old handheld camera from the late 90's.
Hope you like it.
So, hello there. This is the first time, I "modded" something.
I've always wanted some kind of old camera-thing as a shader, or as a ReShade-Preset, but didn't find anything.
So I made my own.
Installation:
ReShade and its presets need to be installed, where the actual .exe files are.
In the case of Anomaly it's: C:\Program FIles\Anomaly\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Anomaly\bin
The following effects are used:
- Virtual Resolution (It's set to 1024x768. Just like a semi-old camera.)
- Ambient Light (for an overall nice look.)
- Bloom & Lens Flares ( The blooming effect is deactivated. It's just for the lensflare effect.)
- DELC Sharpen
- DPX (for the saturation, otherwise the whole image would look pretty orange.)
- Filmic Pass (That's one of the main effects; the one that creates this old "feeling".)
- Framerate Limiter (capped to 24 FPS, just like an old camera could do.
- Letterbox (for the good old 4:3 format :D )
- Motion Blur (To make the whole image a bit more "softer")
- PPFX Bloom (for the light to shine over other things. But not that much.)
- Real Grain (for a constant radiation effect.)
Known bugs:
Some colors, red, light blue & green for example look too saturated or too much lit up, but I'll try to fix this.
Walking in a sunny area with activated flashlight may result in a very illumitated bloom effect.
The whole image looks pixelated and "cutted", but that's normal. It's caused by the virtual resolution effect, which is set to 1024x768.
My GFX settings are 1920x1080 with everything except for the gloss factor & the sun intensity is set to ultra/high.
Preview Pictures
More pictures PLEASE! The preview looks GORGEOUS!
This is what I call original! OO
I don't know where to install it, got some instructions?
Right, i need instructions -_-
Simple, just type on google "how to install Reshade preset" and read the first result
Okay, post is updated. Inserted some installation info and some bug informations like over-satured colors for example. And i uploaded some preview pics. :)
much better, always instructions are needed
I'll save that info in mind for my next "mod" :D
Looks surprisingly good, actually. The only thing I'd probably change is the virtual res so it's a proper 16:9 (1280x720 would be fine for this I think) but other than that it really works well for giving an authentic late 90s feel.
EDIT: You should probably post your Anomaly gfx settings in the description too, since those will ultimately have a significant effect on how the ReShade looks in the end as well...
Yeah, but the 4:3 scale, is to give the immersion of the late 90's. Back then 720p or even HD wasn't available.
I know and I get it. If I still had an old CRT laying around that was native 1024x768, then I'd give it a go but playing on a 16:9 monitor at 4:3 drives me absolutely insane so I'd rather compromise by running it at 720p.

I know back then 720p or even HD wasn't available, but I'd love to see 16:9 version of this because it looks so damn good!
You should at least upload the shaders used. They are not included in the latest Reshade ver (clicking all available shaders on installation) and have to look for them manually.
