The stand-alone mod S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly aims to be the most stable and customizable experience for fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. It's powered by the Monolith 64-bit engine, a custom fork of the X-Ray engine.
HollywoodFX (HFX) is an addon for Anomaly v1.5.1 that improves the in-game impact effects and makes them more Hollywood-like. With this addon, dust, smoke, and debris, will now fly around, bounce off surfaces, and linger in the air, meant to increase the intensity during firefights within the game.
*All particles showcased above are from the "HollywoodFX" option of the new HollywoodFX v2.0
This addon essentially improves the detail of many of the impact particle effects in-game. The addon was originally designed to improve "over-the-top" Hollywood-esque effects, but more "realistic" or "minimalist" options are included as well for those who want the particle detail, but not the over-excessiveness. Therefore, there are three particle options included in the addon: MinimalFX, RealisticFX, and HollywoodFX.
(Note: Updates to HFX can be found in the first reserved comment below in the comment section)
There are three options of particles for this addon:
HollywoodFX (high) - The original particles for this addon and the way this addon was meant to be played, excessive debris and dust will fly and linger around, recommended for those who want that "over-the-top" Hollywood-like effects. Fair warning though, the lingering smoke after firefights may make spotting or targeting an enemy more difficult in enclosed spaces, this creates a different type of challenging element for game-play in firefights.
RealisticFX (med) - The reduced version of HollywoodFX option, less debri and dust will fly around but will still linger, recommended for those who want toned-down relatively realistic effects.
MinimalFX (low) - Same as RealisticFX option, the only change here is that smoke will no longer linger, recommended for those who prefer more improved, better-looking, "vanilla" like particles.

**** YES!
oh damn I was not prepared for this beauty
The true king of FX is back!
yes
first of all this addon ROCKS...I LOVE IT...and second of all a very detailed and precise description so you know what it does and where to install, compatibility etc...as very few addons has this...GOOD JOB
Still the best VFX but is there any chance to reduce the smoke/dust fade out time?
Greetings Krieger,
HFX v2.0 has "RealisticFX" and "MinimalisticFX" particle options included for those who prefer less smoke/dust to linger, or prefer no smoke/dust to linger.
You can try these other options out as they may be better suited for your taste.
Awesome update, I was waiting for a version that incorporates heat blur when firing the weapon, before I had to use the BaS's particles.fx for that, and that disabled HollywoodFX effects.
The bouncing sparks look really good
I’m coming from COC over to anomaly and this is amazing.
What weapon pack are you using in the screenshots? Would love to run that.
Greetings cortlong50,
The "weapons pack" addon I am using in the screenshots and video is the "Boomsticks & Sharpsticks" (version 1.5.1) addon, which HFX v2.0 is fully compatible with. Give it a try:
Moddb.com
Enjoy!
Thank you for making this super easy to install, the way it's structured is very nice
Should I use this mod, if I have Boomsticks and Firesticks installed? I see both mods have a particles.xr file.
Thanks for the mod! :)
Greetings,
HFX v2.0 is compatible with Boomsticks and Sharpsticks v1.5.1. In the Boomsticks and Sharpsticks addon description, the author shows the exact installation order as well as a screenshot of his JSGME addon load order if you are using a Mod Manager. If you are installing manually, install Boomsticks and Sharpsticks first, then install HFX v2.0, and overwrite any files.
Hopefully this helped, enjoy!
Thanks! I actually figured it out afterwards, when looking at the readme, but forget to delete the message. Thanks for the help. Great mod! :)
Man, this is so fun to play with, makes combat look so intesive. Awesome addon, a big thanks to you!
True king of fx
Thank you so much for adding a realistic option!. The vanilla muzzle blast and effects are ok at best. With your addon with " realistic " setting the muzzle flash and such is very realistic and detailed, but not over the top. This and B&S go hand in hand.
Good stuff, thanks! Having to wait for the dust to settle until I can see where the enemies are really adds to the experience!
A classic one! Used all the time in 1.5.0!
A must-have! Cheers!
it's beautiful, however I find that with minimal preset the smoke still lingers, giving me some serious fps drops. Would you please revise the minimal preset or perhaps create an extra option where the smoke does not linger AT ALL, as in vanilla game? Thanks
EDIT: ignore, didn't reset cache.
Greetings,
Just to clarify for others who might be reading this, MinimalFX is the most performance-friendly option as the smoke from impact effects will not linger at all and will be similar to how impact effects work in vanilla. If you have a lower-end PC I recommend trying out the RealisticFX or MinimalFX options to see which one works best for you.
Thank you for downloading and enjoy!
MO2 notifies me that there is a conflict between "EFT-Style Weapons Reposition" and "HollywoodFX"? However, everything seems to be working fine. Any ideas?
Greetings SoulforgedCRO,
The "conflict" here between HollywoodFX and "EFT-Style Weapons Reposition" is simply that both addons are trying to make modifications to the same grenade .ltx files.
The easy solution to avoid having to do a manual merge is to just load HollywoodFX after EFT-Style Weapons Reposition in MO2, that is, HollywoodFX should overwrite EFT-Style Weapons Reposition.
Although MO2 may still notify you that there is a "conflict", doing the above should make the two addons functionally compatible and you should have no problems or issues.
Amazing, that is exactly what I did. I'm glad to hear that there will be no issues! Thanks!
cool addon
.
As I've stated before, I *love* this mod.
And I hope that you don't mind some input from my experiences with it. A few points...
#1. Keep it updated for Provak's amazing mod. A *ton* of people use it, and with very good reason: modding can be a very challenging job, it can be very confusing, and so players screw up their mod installations, and then stop their efforts from enjoying *ANY* of it.
Those that hate Provak's efforts, they MISS that point. Including about a quarter of those that have made the mods. Did they put all of that hard work into the mod so that it's NOT used? Of course not. Provak is ENSURING that the mods WILL work altogether. Do his releases have bugs? Yes, of course, but he puts a LOT of time into trying to remove them.
So, KEEP UPDATING this mod for Provak's releases. His latest release is v.2.6, and can be found here: Youtube.com
.
.
.
#2. PLEASE, oh PRETTY PLEASE, offer up ONE more particle effects option. How would this DIFFER from the other three options that you so kindly offered us?
.
A. The particle effects for ordinary weapons (guns, explosives) would be KEPT *realistic.*
.
B. The particle effects for the fantasy elements (the gauss gun, anomalies, mutants) would be KEPT at the *Hollywood* level.
.
Currently, if one installs the Realistic option, the fantasy elements are reduced in strength and quantity, BUT I *love* the Hollywood-level of the fantasy elements, and I would love to have them combined with realistic effects for the weapons. I'm certain that a LOT of people would like this option, and would use it like crazy.
.
.
.
#3. Any chance of making TRACERS give off a glow that would ILLUMINATE any objects or terrain that they come within 1.25 m. of? The tracers already look good, their colors and lengths are appropriate, it's just that even though they LOOK like they're glowing, in reality, they're not. Having them actually cast off light onto objects and the terrain would fix that.
.
Maybe if you take this task on, that the tracers are released as its mod release, with four options made available:
.
A. Every THIRD round is a tracer. Most militaries that do use tracers, this is the count that they use.
.
B. Special Forces units, for obvious reasons, do NOT want to be seen, so they AVOID tracer rounds, HOWEVER, they oftentimes DO use tracer rounds for the LAST THREE rounds in their magazines. When they see a tracer fly out of their barrel, they know that they HAVE TO switch magazines.
.
C. Every THIRD round is a tracer, and the LAST THREE rounds are all tracers.
.
D. This last option, while highly unrealistic from a Real Life combat perspective, DOES look COOL: make EVERY round a tracer round. And before anyone jumps on me, YES I *do* know that OFFICERS and sometimes SERGEANTS carry 2-3 magazines' worth of JUST tracer rounds, because they use the solid-stream of tracers to POINT TO targets that they want their troops to concentrate fire on.
.
.
THANK YOU for all of your hard work, and being generous enough to freely share it with the enormous STALKER community!
.
provak plz. just stop
Greetings Kyle_K_ski,
Thank you for the constructive feedback. I will consider these points, and, if possible, will try to address them moving forward towards the future development of HFX.
Thank you for the support and feedback!
Thanks.
Showing a conflict in MO2 with JSRS part 2 cracks and impacts and JSRS part 3 new tracers, anything to be concerned about or is it safe to let it overwrite?
Greetings Mantruffle83,
You can just let JSRS and the patches (2-3) overwrite HFX v2.0.
The "conflict" MO2 reports I believe is just the one file both addons modify, "base.ltx". If you would like, after installing both, you can go into the "base.ltx" file located in "gamedata\configs\items\weapons\" and "zero"-out the "frags" line values and you would of have essentially manually merged the two different "base.ltx" files together.
Let me know if you encounter any further issues or have any questions, enjoy!
This looks amazing! Will this also work with Provak's Weapon Overhaul v2.6?
Greetings zameus,
HFX v2.0 is only compatible with v2.4 of Provak's Weapon Overhaul addon that was uploaded here on Moddb (link is in addon description under Installation). Playing with any other version of Provak's will likely result in a crash.
I will make a compatibility patch for Provak's Weapon Overhaul v2.6 when it gets a proper release here on Moddb.
Hopefully this helped, Cheers!
DeathOrchid I appreciate your response and clarification. Thank you and looking forward to your future work!
Nice merge, I chose Hollywood over Cinematic so far but damn, those anomalies look nice. Best of both worlds indeed.
I ******* LOVE YOU!, Now we have the best of both worlds with HollywoodFX's particles and etc, and Cinematic VFX's very pretty anomalies!.
awesoem job! I love it!
COuld you help me make a YAWN and BOTZ patch? BOTZ already has a YAWN and CVFX patch, so adding in YAWN as a patch to yours would simply bot top of the top!!!!
Greetings,
HFX has been updated to include compatibility for "Yet Another Winter Mod v2.2 (YAWM)" across "HFX v2.0 (Standalone)" and "HFX + CVFX" for all particle options. The addon description has been updated along with the instructions on how to install it.
Cheers
thank you so much mate!!!
aw man, I manage to run the Hollywood setting quite nicely, even in an intense firefight. however, with the mod that adds special abilities to the "trash" artefacts, there's one that can make people explode. I'm not sure what explosion that mod uses, but it generates about a gazillion particles. ahahhahha impossible to use.
anyways. cheers to your mod man!!
Ahojhoj! I just installed your comp patch for CVFX (HFX Realistic version) and it works fine so far but the muzzleflashes in my game are now replaced, I guess by those from CVFX. I must say I dig yours way more than those from CVFX. Was that intentional?
Greetings Schuchart,
Thank you for your continued support and feedback for HFX.
It was a conscious design choice for now. The muzzle-flashes for both HFX and CVFX were both retained separately in "HFX + CVFX".
The result of which muzzle-flashes are being used will depend on which weapons addons you are using (as they are defined/referenced in the weapon config files). If I recall correctly, vanilla anomaly and other addons such as EFT weapons pack, Contract Wars Weapon Pack, etc., will use CVFX's muzzle-flashes, whereas BaS, Provak's, and TaZ will use HFX's. (assuming you have the compatibility patches for those applied.)
This design will be completely changed in the next version later on, as all particles across the entire particle base will be compositioned into one elegant and cohesively uniform art-style.
Hopefully this helped and gave some insight!
Yes, it certainly did, thank you very much for the elaboration! I am eager to see then what will be in the next update, this is truly one of the best addons around and it can only get better!
Excellent mod - even better now with the merge with CVFX. I noticed when installing that the HFX + CVFX options aren't in a gamedata folder. Not sure if this was intentional, but thought I'd point it out.
Greetings Gravemouth,
This was an oversight, it has been fixed in the new version of HFX.
Thank you for your feedback and enjoy!
Hi im having conflicts with the particle.xr files for HFX file and CVFX file and also conflicts with the particle.xr file in BaS
Greetings ubereets,
Here below are some more detailed instructions on how to install "HFX + CVFX" with BaS v1.5.1 that might be a bit more helpful.
To install "HFX + CVFX" with "BaS v1.5.1":
1. Install BaS v1.5.1 first
2. Install CVFX v3.5 Update 1.1, here you just want to install the "core" option only, you can ignore the other options. When installing, CVFX should overwrite anything from BaS.
3. Install "HFX v2.0 + CVFX v3.5 (Update 1.1)" (choose one of the three particle options). When installing, "HFX + CVFX" should overwrite any files prompted.
All three addons (BaS, CVFX, and HFX) have their own "particles.xr" files included, however, at the end of the installation process, only the "HFX + CVFX" particles.xr file should be the one installed (i.e., in the gamedata folder).
Hopefully these more detailed installation instructions were a bit more clear. Let me know if you encounter any further issues.
