Really simple mod. Healing is back on foodstuff. 2 versions to choose.
Changes food to have minor healing effects again.
2 different versions to choose from, Classic and Survivalist.
CLASSIC (based on original games)
5/10/15%HP healing when eating non-mutant foods, and healing is instant.
5%HP for perishable foods
10%HP for sturdier foods like sausage
15%HP for tinned or preserved foods
-This can be a very powerful effect, with the cost of food compared to stimpacks and medical items remaining untouched (for now, at least).
-Very old-school feeling, especially with item animations turned off.
SURVIVALIST (based on Anomaly values)
Healing is tied directly to calories, and healing has a 10 second duration.
1%HP = 100 calories
-This version has a much less powerful effect, and it should never be worth it to buy food as a substitute for medkits or stimpacks.
-Eating food with a restoration effect may overwrite long-term health buffs like tetanus shots etc.
-Mutant meals do not have additional healing applied, this is by design (for now, at least).
-All tooltips will say 1% heal over 10 seconds, but this is only because it rounds up from any percent under 1, even 0.01%.
-actual total healing is between 1-5% per item.
NOTES
usual stuff, incompatible/needs merge with any addon altering items_food.ltx
one or two lines added to each section depending on version you pick after downloading, so just copy those over, added lines are clearly commented.
please report any unexpected behaviors here, mostly "a stronger effect is already active" issues that prevent eating.
Great mod. Can you add the survivalist effect to water too?
Thank you!
Hopefully on next version I will touch drinks and mutant foods in a minor way.
Both are left untouched for now since the normal foods did not already have duration buffs (like the rad removal on water, etc.) and I wanted to avoid as many issues as possible with overwriting other effects, at least for 1.0

very pog
Going on about adding drinks as food items, don't.
Let food restore health, and drinks remove radiation.
Other than that, outstanding mods. You are growing extremely fast among the Anomaly modding community.
Step 1: Have simple idea
Step 2: Execute on simple idea with simple ltx changes
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Thank you!
I made a mod similar to this a while back, where I made food and drink items heal a certain amount based on calories. May I suggest a third option for a future release? A hybrid system of the survivalist and classic version where food will heal 1% HP per 100 calories, but with an instantaneous effect instead of a regen. The problem with regen is that it gets overridden by other healing items like medkits and stimpacks, and you can't stack multiple regen items. Eating food already plays a short animation that takes a few seconds, so it's not like the instant heal can be so easily abused.
Duration is intended to prevent spamming with item animations turned off, and also to discourage eating during combat (though one can still use glucose shots to offset the satiety reduction from drugs/meds). Basically I considered the health regen as an abstraction of "comfort" from eating nice food during downtime, just a small bonus against random "unhealthy" effects and chip damage from radiation or whatever. I reckoned if the 5% heal gets overwritten by a stimpack, the user was probably in a dangerous spot to be eating no matter what.
An intermediate option is something I was considering though, I'll definitely keep it in mind next time I fiddle with things, thank you!
Hi man, nice mod ! I did the whole manual edit thing, I think it works, but I would like to make it work with the base health 3.4 HUD and the item descriptions to show the values entered using your addon, any idea how to achieve that?
I'm not certain about any HUD stuff, not my wheelhouse; Item descriptions all can be edited manually and installed as any other addon, found in the 'configs > text > eng/rus > items_food.xml' and similar files (not included, need to unpack them from anomaly configs db, if another mod doesn't already edit them).
Any effects over time (boost_ effects) will automatically be added to tooltips, but other effects have to be written in by hand.
What kind of witchcraft is this?
Hah, i just where thinking "Hmm if food whould restore a little bit of health would be nice" Going online and tehre itr is. Thanks man!
love this addon used it in da and works perfectly no idea why they took it out
