A collection of rewritten item descriptions as well as a few personal tweaks.
Backpack Text Rewrite: Backpack names and descriptions are rewritten to provide a clear cut role for them, as well as flavor text explaining how they carry more than others and why some are more rare than others.
Consumables Rewritten: Food, drinks and some cigarettes have be rewritten, some entirely as "new" items.
Disabled Burnt Fuzz: Disabled the radius and tripled speed requirement to trigger, effectively disabling them. Essentially the same as they were in Shadow of Chernobyl. Visible, anomalous but not deadly for once.
Nerfed Snorks: Speed reduced, health drastically reduced and auto aim for their jumps disabled. Primarily done to make the AI capable of killing them. Yantar's population is often reduced by half every time I travel there by the ridiculous masses of Snorks that spawn there. With these nerfs they are still fairly dangerous but AI can managed to kill them most of the time, and logically they die easily given they are a creature with a literal exposed spinal cord.
Neutral Mercenaries: Mercenaries are now neutral with Loners and Duty, while being enemies with the Bandits. Said factions all view the Mercenaries in the same way. Thanks to the Warfare system missions are automatically adjusted to the new relations it seems. For instance Duty members will offer missions to take packages to Mercenaries despite them usually being enemies, but Duty leaders will still offer jobs to clear Mercenary camps in the Army Warehouses, Garbage, etc.
Peace Replacement Dialog: The goodbye line "Peace" replaced with a variety of other responses for those who simply don't use the word peace as a farewell.
Steel Helmet Respirator Fix: A quick and dirty fix to the Steel Helmet. Similar to my extremely old Misery mod on my old account I simply applied the standard gas masks radiation resistance to the Steel Helmet to make the respirator upgrade actually do something. In that old mod I was able to apply the stat change directly to the upgrade, but in this case I was only able to figure out how to apply it to the helmet itself. More of a personal mod given I use the CS-1b exclusively.
Ill be updating the Artifact text soon, I feel like I could've done better with that. I try to make sure its a mixture of informative as to why its valuable with some fun jokey stuff thrown in. But I try not to go too far either way. Still I would like to lengthen them if I can, a few seem to brief.
Consumables will also be updated. I noticed I made some poor grammar choices for the field rations. Namely the Ukrainian ration description has kit in it several times. I tried taking on too much at once I think and after looking at a white notepad++ screen for three hours my quality took a nosedive. Ill try to take it on in smaller bursts and update when I can.
For those who voted and downloaded, again, feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks for nerfing the Burnt Sht
Welcome, I preferred it at its Shadow of Chernobyl state. Little more than mutated plantlife but not particularly dangerous. I think even the devs need to explore the concept of useless artifacts and anomalies. Like the cut Elevator anomaly. Simply a pocket of low gravity. Serves no gameplay purpose, but shouldnt have been cut for that reason. The Zone is home to broken reality essentially, not everything should be so easily understood or immediately useful to the player.
goddamn
Yeah im back, not much to say. Hope my old stuff was useful to you, and ill remake it if you need it again. But ill definitely be keeping a minimal presence. I want to make stuff for a game I love, not deal with the dregs of the community. Not my job, not my place.
Why remove "Peace"?
should've been replaced with something like a simple "bye"
As I explained in the description for it its just not something I say, so it was.... lame as it is, immersion jarring for me somewhat. I'll make a variant that simply replaces it with Bye.
I didn't do that due to the fact that there are 4 different goodbye lines used for certain characters. Say all random NPC's get one of them, traders likely get another, etc. There is already a Goodbye, Bye and Later, so I figured id add something slightly different. None the less, ill make some variants, including some jokey ones I suppose.
Very late edit: Done.
Hi, if you would be interested in colaboration - I would have some cool projects.
Im not sure what you have in mind, but feel free to message me if you want to talk about it more, sure.
Well you profile is set to private, so Idk how to send you message.
Anyway I will produce 2 huge addons in these days and there is tons of description rewrite work.
One will be on artefacts and another will be on outfits.
I was about to ask if you would want to work with me on descriptions for these.
My discord hadle is Jurkonov#3556
Or you can send me message via moddb.
Ah, my bad. Im a bit of a hermit these days, ill message you on Discord, faster that way. But yeah id be happy to help.
Nice pack of QoL updates here! instant install on this baby!
What do you think of the idea of making the Burnt Fuzz only do damage to outfits? Is that even possible?
Im not sure actually, ive noticed over time that despite the fact that high tier armor will render mutants like Snorks and dogs completely incapable of hurting you regardless of their little armor bar in the menus, but the suit will still take damage to its condition. Just looked into it, nothing in the file for the actual anomaly. So I would likely have to modify damages or the armor. Not sure if you still want that given that would start causing compatibility issues.
Thanks for the support dude, much appreciated.
The goodbye line "Peace" replaced with a variety of other responses for those who simply don't use the word peace as a farewell
It is a word for a freedom faction, cause they used to be ganja style community.
Sure, I could see the Zone hippies saying it. But I don't. Hence the mod. Everyone keeps making a weirdly big deal out of it so I made other options as well. Either way, good meme.
Is there a way to still make merc hostile?
How so? Its an optional mod, these are all seperate files.
For any new folks, I would actually highly suggest this mod as an alternative to my rewriting of the artifact descriptions. His mod also actually makes them useful, and in my opinion have better written descriptions.

Good to see you back here! I assume you must've taken a break or something? (Took a good one myself, mostly waiting for my addons list to slowly update, part of the modding experience i suppose).
Seeing all your stuff vanish like that got me kinda worried for a sec. But the pack is back and it looks better than ever too, nice stuff.
Nah, fully shut it down. I tried to get too... involved with the community. Ive taken to a much more distant stance now, seems to be working pretty good so far. But yeah burnout is a big deal too. Glad your about again though.
Thanks a bunch dude, glad you like it. Eh, not like I was any danger if that's what you mean. I appreciate your concern though.
As for the content its all back save the drop conditions and freedom edit that one guy asked for. Condition drop I could reupload but no ones asked for it, so ill just do it for myself each time I get around to playing again.
Otherwise ill just let this sink to the bottom again, as really im out of ideas already. The only thing im halfway good at is writing and there aren't many opportunities for me to do that. I might try to revamp weapon and armor descriptions sometime. Guns are half old vanilla text and some are simple Wikipedia copies. Armors are almost entirely old vanilla descriptions. The Merc suit for instance still babbles some nonsense about the plates getting stronger when physically moved or something. That could do with a clean up.
Maybe you could do something similar to that one mod that added a bunch of notes (200+ i think) with stories from the stalker/anomaly community that you could occasionally loot from corpses. I think it was called "Stories from the Zone" or something similar, i'd link it but it seems to have vanished from the addons list, unfortunate. Still have it in my game to this day, good little immersion booster, reading stories by the campfire is pretty comfy.
Perhaps add something like that to the personal diary item? You could get a story, a stash location or info on a new route to some place (if you're playing without the acessible Zone option) it does sound like a lotta work tho.
Yeah, the vanilla guns and outfits need some serious updates text wise, guns like the PM have contradictory statements and repeated text on them for example.
Maybe someday. Im not really experienced enough to go adding items to the game like that, and like he im sure had issues with, making that compatible with other mods. Still that does sound nice. While some gripe about item bloat, it does a lot to given even the simplest encounter character if done right.
I remember back when I was able to play DayZ Standalone I found books, like actual books, and learned later you could actually read the entire book in game. Seems stupid but it is one of those games where you could just sit by a camp fire and read a book you would never normally read just out of curiosity.
I could see it being an option at least. A cheaper alternative to unlocking PDA's. Speaking of, unlocking PDA's is a great platform for all this to work on.
Most are just reused, any new guns from the Arsenal mods and all just use Wikipedia descriptions. Although id agree that's one of the best options given it saves you time, effort and is an effective synopsis.
This reminds me of this one addon for Dead Air that changed a lot of item descriptions to a first person perspective, so your character doesn't know everything about every item. Basically it's item descriptions by the average Joe in the Zone. I always liked it and even used it for a good while, wasn't perfect but it gave the game a nice immersion boost. It's a shame it never went anywhere after the first big update, the author seemed to have quite the plans for it but they just vanished one day, a real shame. Here's the link if you're interested: Moddb.com
Great idea, not my kind of thing though. While they can be extremely immersive compared to the more clinical descriptions of course, but personally I find it too... limited.
Say someone who is playing a Sin character or something who doesnt care about cannibalism, that kind of description is immersion breaking. Maybe an ecologist who knows damn well how the antiradiation medication works.
Its fantastic, but too situational. I think the more useful option is how they have it in Anomaly, more informing the player what the hell it all is. I tried to make mine a combination of both I suppose. As flexible as possible without being a simple wikipedia page about the formula for H20 you know?
Yeah, the extra stuff Anomaly has make it not work so good. It DOES work better in DA since you're locked into the Loners by default.
Yours has a pretty good balance i feel, def a step up from vanilla.
Can you do something about the other mutants auto aim? I do have an addon for it but it's way too outdated and it requires other stuff to work.
Are you? Eh, not my flavor then. I always found the concept of every single Stalker entering the Zone as a Loner made no sense. Mercenaries of course would have their own way in given the fact that they are westerners primarily. That sort of thing. Factions smuggling people in if they work for them kind of deal. Say Duty might have an easier road in given their terms with the Military.
Well thank you! I gave it my best.
Oh? Do you not just use this one? Keep it mind it will overwrite my Snork edits, but the Snork edit file disables their auto aim as well. I wish I knew how to just disable some spawns in Yantar. Place is a damn death trap for AI and honestly too small for that much action. I dont see hell hordes of mutants in the Meadows.

Maybe when 1.6 hits - there will be more opportunities for you to apply your talents
There are rumors about the dialog and task system improvements
Might be easier to create and edit them
At the same time - 1.6 is a long way away, time wise
Eh, I wouldn't call them talents per say, but I appreciate the kind words!
I just updated some spelling errors and rewrote some items I thought needed improvement. That is to say most of them.
That said, what is 1.6 bringing to the table that will be so big?
Don't know any details, I'm afraid
Just heard some rumors that the dialog and ques systems will get an overhaul
And that weapons will get an update / replacement too
Lots of under-the-hood stuff too
Ask around on Discord if you want to know more about a particular area
Sounds nice! I would love to see some more customization, maybe not to the ridiculous degree that Desolation is attempting though. Not much use in taking the dust cover off my AK, it's entirely worse now woo.
Hopefully they'll finish it! Either way we have a hell of a product here now! Thanks for the news dude!
