Adds recipes to craft basic, advanced and expert tools
This lightweight mod adds recipes to allow the crafting of five types of toolkits: basic tools, advanced tools, expert tools, gunsmithing tools and the drug-making kit.
If you have bad RNG finding them in the wild, you can now craft them from components at a workbench, the same way you would craft anything else in the vanilla game.
Two options are available:
- Default version adds the recipes to existing books which you'll need to find and read before being being able to craft the tools
- Bookless version makes the recipes available from the start of the game
Your mechanic's workbench will need to be equipped with the same type of tools you want to craft. Therefore it will be necessary to find at least one of each in the wild before being able to craft your own.

Compatibility:
This addon should be highly compatible. It only adds five recipes to craft.ltx via DLTX and nothing else.
Requirements:
Installation:
- Install with MO2
- Select an option in the FOMOD installer
FAQ:
Q: Why do the advanced and expert tool recipes require detectors?
A: My choice of components was based on the vanilla descriptions and according to those, the advanced kit has an electrical probe and the expert kit has a multimeter. The detectors were the closest thing I could find.
If you have any ideas to improve the choice of components in the recipes, let me know.
Version history:
[2024-02-17] version 1 - initial release
[2024-02-18] version 1.1 - added fomod installer with choice for bookless option
If you have to find one in the wild first for your mechanic and need one to craft one of the same level, what exactly is the point of this mod?
I think that its pretty useful when u want to give tools to mechanic
and u not need to look for another tools later ;/
You don't lose a basic toolkit when you craft a basic toolkit. That wouldn't make sense. The requirement is that you've given the same level of tools to your mechanic (or just have it in your inventory) to enable crafting of that type of tools at his workbench.
For example, you find your first basic tools in the wild and bring them to Xenotech. After that, all you need to craft more basic tools at his workbench are the recipe book and four components: swiss knives, fasteners, duct tapes and packs of bolts.
I've also added a version that doesn't require the recipe books.
The point of the mod is that you don't need to rely only on RNG for tools anymore.
this pretty useful thanks 10/10
Gunsmith tools recipe......
That believe-able
Same with medical toolkit.
This kills all interest in the game. Without this mod, the tools are ok on the highest difficulty. In each group I have from 10 to 30 pieces and I haven't been to Radar yet.
no
how do I remove the requirement of needing a basic tool kit to make a basic toolkit?, I've already increased the materials needed to make each toolkit (so I have to craft and grind more without getting it easily in marked stashes)
I don't believe it's possible without changing the way the vanilla crafting system works fundamentally. With vanilla crafting all recipes require a type of toolkit to craft. It might be possible using for example this mod Moddb.com but I don't know for sure
yes its possible I just made it work using banjaji's crafting system Moddb.com also i included a craftable artefact toolkit from Moddb.com
Nice, good job!
