You don't need to redistribute my mod. if you just put you additions to ch_default into a file ch_DX2.ltx you could distribute just that and the crosshair textures.
My mod will read that file and add your crosshairs.
that will mean your addition will work with any updates i make to the core mod with no or little work required on your part.
